Shopping for 5th Gen Camaro
Hello everyone. First Camaro. I am strongly considering a 2010 LT1. Manual transmission V6 with 37,000 miles. Clean inside and out. Cloth seats in very good condition. Test drove the car once. Did not realize she was a V6 till after the test drive. I liked the car a lot. Tell me the good and bad on this 2010. $16,000.

If you don't know by model name which cars are V6, you are not ready to spend your money on a Camaro.

I am reading up on the material you provided and it is very helpful. What is your take on the particular Camaro I mentioned at the top of this thread? - JKHolman

Also, what are your plans for this car? Are you going to keep it and enjoy it until it wears out or try to sell it before it's paid for? With a 2010 V6, you might be under water pretty quick. But if you keep it, your $16,000 will get you a lot of fun! |

I think you should definitely keep looking around! Hampton roads has several nice Camaros for sale, I just recently picked up my first and new to me Camaro which is a 2011 SS 2SS/RS for under 20K.

At this point, 2010 V6 and V8 coupes should be similar in price depending on miles, condition, options, etc. I would be very diligent in doing research. Read, read, read. Then read some more. TEST DRIVE all models and trims. There are so many cool options, and you don't want to regret missing out, then pay more to retrofit. This is a big purchase, and the Camaro is nothing short of amazing. You want the best bang for your budget. Good luck.

I would also encourage you to drive other models, including an SS, before you decide to buy. For just a little more $$, you may find the fun factor much greater. The V6's do pack a punch, but there is a distinct difference in feel and sound between the engines.
Good luck with the search!

Thanks for the input. Up to now, I have test driven a few SS models. The only reason I had test driven the 2010 mentioned was because I did not know it was a V6 when I climbed in it. And it turned out to be a lot of fun.
If I had known it was a V6 I would not have driven it. At the time I was only considering V8s. That is why I was asking about this particular one in Post #1. My previous hot cars were a '08 Mustang V6 AT that I eventually supercharged myself. Last November, I traded that for a '05 Corvette AT. So I have experienced the big power. What do you guys have to say good and bad about the 2010 V6 LT1 stick? Forgot to mention, this one is for sale from a used car lot. - JKHolman

I would spend a little more and get a 2012 or newer. You get the new LFX engine

Agreed. I had a 2010 V6 with the LLT engine. Not sure about now, but back then there wasn't much you could do (easily) to gain a significant amount of power. There are also some issues (timing chain, carbonization, misfires, etc.) with the LLT that were worked out in the LFX. Iv'e driven a 2013 V6 and it also seemed to have more pep stock.
