What are the Pros and Cons of Magnunson vs Whipple
As stated in the title as I am doing my due diligence prior to purchasing a supercharger. I have installed 2 Magnunson superchargers in prior years but not lately. The HP for Whipple is interesting but what are the downsides??

The way I see it, none... PD blowers for the win!! I have a friend that has a Maggie, and another that has the Whipple, and gotta say I like the looks of the Whipple better, not to mention he is making more power than my friends Maggie, same boost numbers.

Twin screw for the win. That being said…I think that the Maggie roots style charger might get into boost just a bit quicker down low and may therefore end up with a bit more low rpm torque than the twin screw would…for a few rpm anyway. But not for long…and either of them makes tires spin come on so fast that the only difference you’d end up with down low could probably only be quantified on a dyno and you’d never know the difference on the street. And the top end and full capability of the twin screw far surpasses the roots. That you will see on the dyno and feel on the street.
All that being said…both are great blowers. We are lucky that so many companies support these Gen 5 Camaros with awesome products. You really can’t go wrong with either blowers. |

While I only have experience with the Maggie Heartbeat, both companies are great IMO. What are your goals with it? Just for a fun driver, road course or drag racing?

i have 42k on my whipple and the only thing I have done is a new belt and plugs every 20k.
Pros, very reliable and awesome power across entire rpm range. Cons, causes a lot of broken parts when using power. |

I have a Whipple Kit, and at time of installation added a BT Blower Cam, Springs/Retainers, Timing Chain, MSD BAP, full Borla exhaust, etc. Had it dyno tuned, went for a reliable tune @ 632 RWHP. Point here is you need to spend more $$ on parts other than just the blower kit to take advantage of the power it can produce.
1J's point on breaking parts is a valid one - best to upgrade the springs, retainers, timing chain, rockers, as these stock parts' durability are iffy under boost. And a Blower without a Blower Cam makes no sense to me. Then as I learned, running a Blower and a big cam puts the Stock Fuel pump at the hairy limit of fuel starvation under boost, even with a BAP. Best to cut the hole in the floor and at least run a ZL1 HO pump. And the kit's 63 lb injectors are maxed out, and actually not up to the demand for more fuel. So this summer I made some parts and Tune upgrades thanks to T. Jannetty. Added a 3.75" pully, ZL1 pump, 3 Bar MAP, his custom IAT, and Injector Dynamics ID1050X Injectors. And whent thru his intensive tuning process using a HP Tuner Interface and numerous Data Logs. The guy is a tuning pro, and I have had a number of them, some absolutely not in the same league as Ted. The end result was impressive and the immediate power under boost is incredible. Just check out his "Street Brawler" packages. That is how my car is built. https://jannettyracing.com/products/...olet-camaro-ss |

THANKS everybody for your opinion. I am just looking for more power beyond the factory HP. Unfortunately, I am 77 years old and it will probably take me 3 weeks to install whatever one I purchase. I guess I will try to get the best price from the forum vendors as it seems as there is not much difference between the two. |

You'll be at the pump more. I know for me, when I take my boosted car out, it's minimum 1/4 of a tank in less than 10-15 min of driving.

Are you referring to the Maggie 2.3L vs. the Whipple 2.9L? The newer style Maggie that is 2.65L?
As stated previously, any blower is a win, however in terms of peak power potential, the order of low to high would go: 2.3L, 2.9L, 2.65L. |

As well as the most suitably sized for your goals. Whipple makes some big blowers. A twin screw IS more efficient, but the latest high helix rotors from Eaton that Maggy etc use, are a huge improvement over old stuff. So there's less in it between the Whipple and Maggy these days |
