As for me I toy with selling my "forever" LT1 and buying a plug in station wagon. Electric can be superfast easy. But no way are they the same or as fun as the old Dino powered stuff. It is just like you are buying a huge cool phone. Fun at first , but it is still just another phone in the long run. And there is only a limited supply of dead Dino remains in the ground.
Food for thought: Ford came out with the F-150 EV for $40,000 not bad, but they say it has about a 200ish mile range.

No problem, I thought, Lets get the one with the battery range extension.

$72,000

Yeah, what they don't tell you is the extended range battery is $32,000 more on the price tag all for another 100 miles range.

Nothing about EV is affordable. I have 0 interest in EV until they actually make it affordable and the infrastructure is built to support it.

I think something electric car fans forget is that a ton of people live in apartments. Until their is literally charging stations along the street, electric cars are not a viable option for everyone. It’s a great option for those that have driveways but the LAST thing I would want to do is wait 15+ minutes at a charging station on my way home from work. I already hate the 5 minutes it takes to get gas when I am leaving work and want to get home. I can’t imagine having to wait 15+ minutes to drive home.

What about the gas tax we pay now? That's not just going to disappear. In the end it won't be much cheaper, if it is at all.

It's called mileage tax. China Joe has that in one of his build back broker plans. Everyone would start paying for annual mileage you put on your car. The feds want access to your vehicle's odometer/GPS to monitor this. Welcome to 1984!

companies are in it for profit. guarantee they aren't doing this for any other reason. companies feel like they can make more money off folks with EV. just wait till they start surcharging for everything...

oh.. and the $10k battery pack replacements every 5-10 years. That'd be like your engine and trans blowing up every 5-10 years.

Just as there is a limited amount of the rare earth minerals in the ground required for EV batteries and hopefully a limited amount of time for the EV crowd to get away with ignoring the environmental devastation caused by getting at the crap.

I’m not a fan of ev’s however I’m also not biased. The 5-10 year battery pack statement is false. All battery’s come with a MINIMUM of an 8 year 100k mile warranty. The model S is officially 10 years old now and I am not seeing a bunch of model S battery pack failures at the ten year mark. Same thing with hybrid car battery packs. They do not just fall over and die @ 10 years. Now I will say I have seen my fair share of 15+ year old hybrid battery packs needing refreshing which I personally don’t think is too terrible of a lifespan and can get refreshed at local shops in the 2k range.

I do agree with what you said about companies doing this for profit and I wouldn’t be surprised at all if electric cars are more profitable to make than gas cars.

Those of you that got the survey, Is there a section where you can write an answer? It would be awesome if a lot of people wrote to them about how they felt in regards to phasing out ICE/V8’s and got them to keep investing making innovations in ICE/GEN VI small block.

People wrote letters to ford when ford was gonna make the mustang front wheel drive in the 90’s and that worked. People did the same thing to bmw to get them to send the M3 here. Maybe we can get Chevy to continue making products for ALL of its customers. Not just the BEV fans. BEVs just aren’t for everyone. Everyone might have them in the future but it will be because they forced it on us.

Dude, That's an idea. Put an electric generator. Generac in the bed of the truck tie it into the car battery/motor. Well assuming a Generac runs on electric power rather than gas or crude that is.

Self charging vehicle

I'd buy that ****ing F-150 in a heart beat then
