295 vs 315 michelins on 10.5"
My question is on a rear 10.5 in wheel. Obviously it'll fit, but would there be any advantage to running a 315 over the 295. I'm planning a 650rwhp soon so need all the contact possible but with it being 10.5 will it end up bulging to the same point that the contact patch would be the same as 295? I am aware michelins run fatter than other companies so am just looking for some opinions. 295 are significantly cheaper lighter and would handle better but will the the 315 hurt?

I think the largest recommended width for a tire on 10.5"-side wheels is usually 305. 315 is a step outside that range. Assuming it is safe (and manufacturer would not be guaranteeing it at this point since it's outside recommended range), it would allow more sidewall flex and the contact patch would not be much bigger, either.
So, I think you should indeed consider 295s as the ideal set-up.

Actually, 10.5 is the smallest recommended width for a 315. you'll be fine. However, you'll want to stretch the tire a bit to get the best handling. So I would recommend 295 or 305.

315's fit fine on my 10.5" F14's. They also happen to look great. The reason I went with them is that they are taller than the 295's and with me being lowered 1" if I don't get the angle right I scrape getting out of my ill-desinged driveway. With the 295's I would scrape no matter what I did....

Ok cool theose r the wheels I'm looking at. Racecloth could u post some pics. That the set up I would like. How's cornering and high speed with the 315s?

My current setup I'm very happy with:
285/35/20 fronts on a 20x9.5" wheel 295/35/20 rear on a 20x11" wheel Michelin Pilot Super Sports all around.

My biggest thing is that with 650rwhp I want the most contact patch possible. So I'm curious how a 315 on a 10.5 looks.

It'll be stuffed on there for sure. Michelin does rate their 315/35/20 to a minimum width of 10.5 inches, so you're set. The sidewalls should be square, but I doubt they'll be "balooning" off the side of the wheel.

Here's a 295 PSS on a 10.5" wheel. It's not bulging over, necessarily, (the rim protector definitely sticks out) but it definitely fills it up. I can get better pictures in a day or two if you want, this is from back when SSsoon owned the wheels.

A friend we race with uses MPSSs on his 10.50 rims and need correct offsets to clear, especially up front. He runs the Ferrari spec 295, which is about 12" wide, almost or same as a regular 315.
