At what point is a BAP required?

Hey guys, I'm just putting a list of parts together and I've been searching this with no definitive answer. Here's my mod list

Rotofab CAI
2.55" upper , ported inlet
SLP 1 3/4" long tubes, catless
Colder plugs, 160 tstat
Id850''s
Afco HX, rotofab IC reservoir
10.4mm wires

And once I get the injectors I will be getting a custom tune. Will I need a BAP? I don't plan on doing anymore mods than these, not a cam or anything. Will I be OK without a BAP ?

Thanks guys

There are different opinions about the exact point that a BAP is needed but with those mods I would say no. Most people agree that it's needed somewhere around a cam and 28% overdrive or 31% overdrive and stock cam and you will be at 18%

You need a BAP if your fuel pressure is falling. Check fuel pressure at WOT all the way to redline. If it doesn't hold 65 psi then you need a BAP.

Don't depend on anyone's advice on a forum. Check your fuel pressure.

I think what Bryan is saying is you need to monitor your fuel pressure during WOT so you can determine if your fuel pressure is dropping below 65 psi. You'll need a gauge or tuner to monitor/record.

Yep, you can log fuel pressure with HPTuners or another scan tool. Or get a fuel pressure gauge and duct tape it to the windshield at see what happens when you get close to redline. Safest way would be to watch it on a dyno.

I had to deal with this back in 2013 when I upped the boost with a 9.55 pulley.

Bryan is correct. The only way to know is by logging fuel pressure with a scan tool. FWIW mine was fine until I went over 628 rwhp. Once again, you need to monitor fuel pressure, but that is when I started having the issue.

If you do find you need a bap, I am in Ontario as well and I have a Kenne Bell I used for 3 months that will be coming off. It will save you some money buying from the states

The JMS unit is plug N play. It's what I use. It uses an inline harness for your throttle pedal. Simply run the wiring under the carpet to the trunk. I mounted mine in the battery area. You can set it to activate at whatever throttle pedal voltage you like.

Thanks a lot Bryan, u truly are a knowledgable member here and as always helpful when it comes to our questions sir.

One of the shops here in UAE recommended that I buy one, the other shop said no way that u will need it and if u end up installing one it will damage my fuel pump in the futur , what do u think? Have u heard of such a failing fuel pump due to using BAP?

The idea that boosting the voltage to the fuel pump will cause it to fail is false. In fact the opposite is true. A fuel pump struggling with low voltage will overheat and fail.
