Pulled the trigger on a 2019 ZL1 !!
Hi everyone, my name is David and I am a air force technician currently living in northern Alberta in Cold Lake.
Im happy to annouce I finally pulled the trigger on a new 2019 ZL1! I found it so hard to get one in Canada.... I secured one from a dealership in Edmonton Alberta, that one was alocated 5 units but they already built their order back in februrary. I wanted to have a white summit A10 with no sunroof with black metallic center stripe but I will have to go with the version that the dealer ordered or I wait another year. I originaly wanted no sunroof because I had a 2015 that I had to order without sunroof because my head was rubbing on the roofliner and it was not desirable... same story with 6th gen I sat in a 2016 2SS with sunroof back in 2016 and head was also rubbing. The dealer told me that for his 5 units he had 1 convertible and he unfortunatly build his remainder 4 hardtop units with all sunroof because 99% of ppl wants them, so I told him about my head clearance issue and he replied that I should try again sitting in a ZL1 to see if I can fit as these one has recaro seats and it might be diffrent.... So I drove to the dealer, they had a soon to be sold black on black ZL1 with sunroof and voila I have an extra 2inches between my head and roof I was like "What the heck?" then I sat in another one a 2LT with base seat also with sunroof and still extra 2 inches of headroom... I was happly surprised!!! The thing that I forgot to take into consideration is that over the last 2.5 years I went on a life change and became active and went to the gymand went from 365lbs to 215... and apparently having slimmer thighs and ass reduces your upper torso height.... :P But at least its not too far off my personal built specs, its a white A10 with sunroof no center stripe with carbon fiber hood insert and interior panel. The car is scheduled to be built next week (Event code : 3400) and delivery in late june/early july.... I am stoked, as I just went thru cancer last couple month (found a lump on my left thigh, and I was a soft tissue sarcoma, radiated the shit out of it and now its surgicaly removed!) and I said that I owe it to myself to treat me even is the price tag is my annual salary.... and we only live one.... I only started to feel that tumour after I lost about 120lbs and it was on the smaller side (7cm), I would of never found it if I would of stayed at 365lbs.... lots of ppl told me shit sometime happens for a reason... working out might of saved my life.... Thanks for reading this, its a long post but I just was happy to spread news to other fellow enthusiasts. Thanks David |

Great story! Congratulations, primarily on the cancer, then on the fitness, and finally on the car you earned!!! Btw, how tall are you? I'm 6'4 - 215lbs, and I have yet to sit in a 6th Gen with a sunroof.

Congratulations on your new ZL1 purchase and welcome to the ZL1 club here! You will be happy once you get to drive it and have no regrets that you bought one! From the description of it, the Z will have a few really nice options that make it worth the extra money. You will like the exposed weave carbon fiber hood insert and the carbon dash panel. Mine has the hood insert but no carbon panel just the standard suede dash panel. I really wanted a white ZL1 but this used 2017 silver Z with less than 500 miles came up on Cars.com this past March and after driving 4 hours to buy it I was very happy with the silver. It had the options I was looking for so I figured I better not let it get away from me. Enjoy your new Z when you get it and of course post a pic or two on this forum and also congratulations on beating your cancer and other health issues that you had and keep everything in check with your physicians and be very thankful that you are a survivor of cancer David.
