Upgrade to 1LE type spoiler
Afternoon Everyone,
Has anyone who owns a MY 19 ZL1 upgraded/installed a 1LE type spoiler. This question is only for MY19 owners, because of the camera mounted in the center strut of the spoiler. I pulled the trunk liner out, because I was trying to figure out how to disconnect the camera. It doesn't appear there is a disconnect there. I noticed on the underside of the spoiler there is an access panel, which I can only assume gives one access to the camera. If any MY19 owner has upgraded to a 1LE type spoiler, don't care about the manufacturer at this point, I just want to know if I can disconnect the camera, so I can return it to stock in the future. If anyone out there has, can you provide some insight!!!!!!!!! Thanks in advance, Tony |

Only one connector for the camera, it looks like this, its power over Data.
P.S. getting the cover off is a real pit, you will more then likely damage the paint then remove the cover, its both screwed down and taped down, then there are notches to help hold it down, more fun. |

Thanks. Is that inside the access panel or is that the one that is inside the trunk. Because I seen that connection inside the trunk and tried twisting it, but couldn't get it to dissconnect. Is there some magic to getting it disconnected?

Thats inside the trunk, it does not twist off you need to find where to push a lever then it slides off.

Are you going to try to retain the camera with the 1LE spoiler? It'd be interesting to see if there's another good mounting spot.

No, I am not! I just want to know if I can disconnect it, so I can remove the spoiler and add a 1LE type spoiler, if I choose to do so.
BTW, Nice color. Have the same. The other reason I want to remove it, is because I want to run a racing stripe from the front of the rear of the trunk lid to the front of it. I have looked at the OEM stripe on the trunk and IMHO it looks stupid where they stopped it. It looks unfinished to me. |

Read here a while ago about someone drilling a hole thru the emblem on the back of the trunk lid and mounting it there. Could hardly see it because of the black, do a search.

Thanks, but not interested in saving the camera function, I just wanted to know if the camera could be disconnected, so I could remove the spoiler and add the 1LE spoiler, if I choose to go that route.

That was us, for our ZLE, only place to mount the camera on that car for now, we did the same thing for the OEM 1LE spoiler, mounting the camera in it to.
