Cold Air Intake Help
I am sure this has been discussed before and trust me I searched and could not find anything on it.
any help would be appreciated I am torn between a RotoFab ($600) and Air inductions Elite Carbon fiber ($1000) Bling Which one really has the best results and is spending the extra $$ worth it. And I am open to other brands out there to look at that one may suggest. And what is everyone thoughts on Dry filter vs Oiled filter? |

What "results" are you looking to achieve with your mods?

Gunkk is asking the right question, because without a tune you will see absolutely no performance gain (dry vs oiled filter is a wash, too, minimal difference between them even after a tune). The engine bay will look nicer, though.

I live in California so the thoughts of really diving into souping up my car is out of the question. I am looking for something that would make my supercharger sound like I have one.
I was thinking if my hood was to be popped by a cop that the closed unit of the carbon fiber would be more acceptable for the laws here. Just not sure its worth the $$ |

The cops can't tell if you remove the dampener plate out from underneath the lid of your supercharger for all of the price of a set of bolts
Rotofab will give you more SC whine and I prefer the look, not to mention the $$. Is the RF-whistle still an issue? Stick with the dry filter; improperly oiled filters can trash the MAF. Keep the stock airbox for when the time comes. |

I went with the K&N oiled carbon fiber CAI...1) for looks 2) little more supercharger whine and 3) because they gave me a military discount. (20-25% off). $600 or $1,000 SEEMS a bit much for looks only, but might be worth it for doing one with mods??. I paid less than $400 for mine and that was borderline more than I wanted to spend for the little that it does. Dealers choice.. SORRY ABOUT THE SIDEWAYS PIC!!!

I went with the AIRAID that let me keep the stock filter box.

There's some info in this thread regarding the whistle. I have a video in post #4 of my ZL1 at Watkins Glen where you can hear it. A possible fix from 2017 to 2018 is mentioned in post #10 but the reply to a PM I sent to Roto-Fab didn't offer any help. For all I know my car still does it.

Unless you're going to actually add more mods such as headers, pulley and tune, just save your money and get a green drop in filter & ported TB. These two mods alone will drop your 60-130 draggy times by half a second.

I had a Roto-Fab on my Gen 5 ZL1 and purchased, installed, and returned the Cold Air Inductions Elite Carbon Fiber from my 2017 ZL1.
There were two reasons I returned the Elite Carbon Fiber Intake:
The Carbon Elite looks fantastic under the hood but for $1000 it has some major mechanical isssues that were a no go for me. As others have said, without a tune you’re not going to gain anything with an aftermarket intake besides supercharger whine and looks. The best bang for the buck, in my opinion, is to replace the paper OEM filter with a Green drop-in filter and remove the rain/snow blocker from behind the driver’s side headlight. This makes the path to the air box a little more direct which causes the engine to build boost faster which provides slightly more low-end grunt. Experience has show the OEM air box flows well up to approximately 700-750 rwhp. This video has some interesting thoughts on the Roto-Fab: If you’re interested in removing the rain/snow blocker see post #20 from this thread. https://www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=572018

RotoFab intake for sure. Good quality for the money and no fitment issues. Check in the Member Classifieds Section and you may find some used ones for sale.
