Keyless2Go is a reliable source, they are on Amazon in Canada.

$3.00 gets you a strip of 5 "name brand" batteries on ebay.
Same money gets you 15 no-name batteries.
Because those couldn't possibly be Chinese knockoffs being sold on eBay... LOL!

This happened to me last year as well. Unfortunately for me I was leaving work when it happened and had to use the key to get into the car. Not knowing how to get the door handle cover off caused me to break one of the tabs that locks it in place. It stays in place but is a little loose. A new unpainted one costs $40 so good enough as is. At least the car was able to start by placing the fob in the rear cupholder. When I got home I tried my spare fob and it too was dead. New batteries fixed both. Moral of the story, I would suggest going against man code and reading the manual about all this so you will be prepared when it happens to you.

I've got three older cars, a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.9 LTD, a 2002 Camaro SS, and a 2004 Ram SRT-10 and I've never replaced the batteries in those key fobs and they still work fine.

It's possible that they don't have as many features as the newer Camaro so they are used less, but they do have remote lock/unlock, arm alarm features. Also these cars have very low original miles, so I guess the fact that they aren't used constantly also contributes to the long battery life.
Most if not all of those are not pushbutton start and/or can use proximity to unlock doors, they take a button push. The gen6 fob is basically always transmitting/receiving to allow those systems to function. Even if it used some sort of motion sensing tech to wake up it would still be using power through out the day as you walk around with it in your pocket.

Can the fob batteries be replaced without reprogramming the fob if the batteries are not dead?

There's no need to reprogram anything if you're swapping out batteries whether they're dead or not.

Speaking of the devil, literally had to run to Target yesterday to get new batteries for both my fobs. Couldn't even open the door, I knew I was pushing it with how the fob had been behaving, but I thought I had more time.

If you stick with a brand name with a fresh date, you can’t go wrong. These fobs are most always active, so a good battery is beneficial, compared to the old-school fobs with a key ignition.

My 2019 SS just gave me a message on the dash that the fob battery is low. Did anyone else not get that message that had one die?
