That Hot Wheels edition looks pretty awesome. Too bad it says Hot Wheels on it. I don't know how much Mattel is paying Chevrolet, but it isn't enough.

I guess there are a bunch of kids lining up with their allowance money to buy these things, but my gut tells me it's more poor marketing.

I sure hope the '19s are available in a Hello Kitty trim package. That'd really help Chevrolet tap into the remainder of the children's performance car market.

More information about the dealer meeting debut:

Quote:
In a later post on Facebook, Chandler said the 2019 Camaro facelift will have familiar styling but a “curvier” front end. The car is also rumored to have LED daytime running lights surrounding the headlights and a ventilated hood on the Camaro SS. The poster also claims there will be a “new entry level LS model starting at $26k” but that seems odd considering the current Camaro 1LS starts at $25,905.

Actually, they are real people, (or at least some of them are). There was an article where a few of them were interviewed on the experience.

Not to mention some people might like to make plans to be at the reveal to see the car.

All they're doing is frustrating potential customers with the silence.
They don't need to announce a vehicle just because a few Camaro fans are tired of waiting. They'll announce it when they're ready.

Is it annoying waiting for a company to announce something people are excited about? Sure. But I don't think a few days is going to make a hardcore Camaro fan swap to the Mustang...

Generally speaking, how much should we expect to see the cost of a 2018 1SS drop after the release of the 2019 models. I'm not necessarily waiting to see if any of the refresh features attract me to a 2019, but more how the release of a new model will affect the price of the 2018s. Not sure how much longer I can wait to upgrade from the LFX

It's really easy to remove the Hot Wheels badge.

Defend them if you want, but it's obvious that Chevrolet marketing strategies aren't working well. Out of the Camaro, Mustang, and Challenger, the Camaro is BY FAR the superior performance car, but you'd never know it by the sales numbers. (And I don't believe the fanboy excuse in the other threads about how the total profit for Camaro is higher than the Mustang, Challenger, etc..)

Chevrolet wasted all of the major auto shows this year on a Hot Wheels edition Camaro. Think about that for a minute.... Those auto shows are insanely expensive. How many more Camaro sales do you think they'll get? There's no chance they'll ever sell enough Hot Wheels cars to even make up the auto show costs, much less turn a profit. No matter how much they advertise that vehicle, there are only a limited number of buyers for that car. Regardless of what Mattel paid Chevrolet, they'll never recoup the lost opportunity to show off what's new for '19.

Had they shown the '19s early. People would at least be able to make a decision to wait or move forward with an '18. Keeping customers in limbo can't be the best approach or all manufactures would be doing it.

Given that mlee ditched his ZL1 early at the risk of not having a Camaro at Camaro Fest, I'm guessing he at least believes current ZL1 values will take a dive upon announcement of the '19s.

(I don't have any insight into his true motivation for selling his car. This is just my assumption.)
