Continental DWS 06 or BFG Comp-2 A/S?
Here is my situation... My rear factory Goodyears have finally hit the wear bars at 14K miles. Living in NC it is a given there will be 4-5 months of temps below the threshold for summer tires. Snow isn't really a concern. What I'm thinking about is putting A/S on the factory 20" wheels and then in the spring buy a set of wider wheels equipped with summer performance tires. This will give me a set of "winter" tires that should last a couple of years.
I've narrowed down to the DWS 06 or the Comp-2 A/S. Thoughts? Opinions? Thanks, Tim |

BFG. About $30 less a tire. On the almighty Tire Rack it is rated #1 (DWS is #3). Highly rated in steering response.
I got mine for free but they are the ones I would have purchased anyway. Either one is a great choice. I think BFG hit a home run with their Comp 2 series. I am loving them, big improvement over the stock run flats. Ride quality and traction has improved, a few cold nights already and had zero issues.

I have the goodrich and love them, they stopped making the 305/35/20 rear recently but I have a ton of tread left at 17k miles, they are loud at first 100 miles or so.

I still recommend the Nitto 555G2's. They are good on the street and I've run them at the track also. I was at the holley fest and I actually took my old rear wheels and tires with me to run at the track, made two passes and couldn't even 60ft under 2.00. I had no other choice but run my G2's and they hook really well. Went from those shitty 60ft times to under 1.80's. They are really good in the rain since I had to drive in the rain for 350 miles on my way to the Fest. I'm running 275-35's up front and 295's in the rear.

I'm happy with my DWS 06 tires. No complaints.

I think those BFG's are out of production. They stopped making them in June according to the rep I talked to when I got my new wheels.

TireRack has the DW on special right now. OEM Sizes! I had them ordered through the Firestone shop on the Air Force Base near me and paid $119 per tire (rears) plus a $38 shipping fee. That's it!!!

If you just ordered the DW's and are looking to drive year round, I would try to get a refund on those.

That did not go unnoticed. After doing some reading I made the decision to go with the DW. I won't be doing any spirited driving on the cold days. I took this approach with the OEM tires last year and had no issues. If snow was an issue here I would definitely be going DWS. Some may not agree but for the price it was a tradeoff I'm willing to live with.

I have a winter setup, so I don't really need an A/S tire technically, so maybe after 3-4 years when I need new tires I'll go with something like the DW.

I just ordered the same tires you are running. Tirerack still has them in stock but who knows for how long?
