Best service for shipping your car?

Anyone have any recommendations for shipping your car across the country? I don't mind paying extra to have it enclosed. My last experience shipping a car was HORRIBLE. Car was picked up 3 days late then sat in a dirt lot 400 miles from my house for 2 weeks then was loaded onto a big car hauler with a forklift (I found this out after the fact) Then the car finally arrived 3 weeks later, the driver was somehow expecting me to have a forklift on hand because he was too lazy to do his job and unload all of the cars (was finally able to convince him he needed to do his job!) Throughout this whole time I'd receive a call about once a week from Direct Connect Auto Transport trying to charge me more money than the original agreed upon price. They would give me some sob story about how they were actually losing money on the deal...

There must be a better way?? Or is every service just a middle man that connects you with a driver? My experience is they put out a bid and any driver who takes it that's who you end up with, so it's a complete roll of the dice if you're going to get a competent driver. I was planning on just doing the drive after my last experience but I'd at least like to know if there are some better alternatives out there? Car needs to go from Maryland to central California.

Just an idea, I might call the local exotic car dealer in your area and ask them who they use for transport.

I watch lots of car channels on YouTube and they seem to use Plycar a lot ( DDE - Daily Driven Exotics) I think actually gets you a discount if you mention their name on how you heard of them.

Intercity Lines is one of the best. Not sure if they can help you as they are in central Mass but I believe they cover the entire US. A call wouldn’t hurt to see if they can help.

Had my 1LE shipped from NJ to San Diego. Used East West transport. Outstanding customer service, identical quality as intercity, and extremely fast service. Ask for Alan

Hi Becky

Reliable is , thank you for suggesting them.

Not to mention, turning on “OnStar” so I could track it on its journey home

The tracking was so accurate, we knew where the truck was, as it was pulling into the lot.

Looks like you had a fun weekend with Payton,

I have had terrific luck with Plycar. I have them transport my cars about once a year.

Do you have to contact your specific dealer for OnStar to be turned on or how is this done? I’d like that for mine so I can see when the truck is going to arrive at the dealer to make sure I’m there for it!

You can't turn it one the first time till you are in the car and it is being "delivered to you".

I'm shipping mine from FL to NV for LS Fest. I worked for a small dealer in town and we shipped a lot of cars, and basically you'd throw a bid out and whomever that was, normally got the deal, usually on some dispatch program. I didn't hear of any horror story.

I threw my details into a few online searches, and my phone and email were nonstop for months. Eventually, I settled on something because the rates seemed reasonable.

They have been working with me for the pickup, but I'm deathly afraid of the outcome.

I've read the contracts, and everything is insured, so that's at least half the battle.
