Post Need help with preparations for L99 cam install

Hi guys,

So I have an L99 Camaro and want to do the installation myself together with a friend.
I don’t have experience with this so I am looking for some tips and tricks on how to do this correctly.
Are there any step by step tutorials on how to do this or complete other forums? I am looking for as much info as I can get so I can learn.

I want to do a GPI SS3 VVT cam for the Camaro but what is everything I need?: https://gwatneyperformance.com/produ...o-ss/#camshaft
Not sure if the link has everything I need? I know I would need an 3600 stall converter but is there anymore I need to do/buy and where can I buy it?
I live in the Netherlands so everything would need to be shipped towards here.

A friend of mine is going to do a cam swap on his firebird soon so I am going to look how he does it so I can learn a bit.
Do you guys have any step by step tutorials for the L99 cam swap and lifter change/everything else needed to get this all done correct ?

Would help me out a ton!

https://gwatneyperformance.com/produ...trunnion-kit/- Cheap insurance here!
Also would invest in new lifters!
Go on youtube and watch videos is the best way i would say! I sure if you google cam replacement there would be step by step instructions somewhere.

I used this post as a pretty much step by step instructions
https://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=125123
And this one
https://www.camaro5.com/forums/showt...=385577&page=5
When I did my cam swap and l99 to ls3 cam conversion.
I did by a chiltons book just so I could review torque specs
I would just contact Andrew Cammer at GPI he can get you everything you need and all lined up.

I've done several and always follow this link. Also, as said above, just go on GPI website for parts. It's super user friendly and walks through just about everything. Fast shipping too.

CHE Trunnion upgrade kit, melling 10296 oil pump, and most important...find a good tuner. This is not the site to search for tuners.

Well I'm not toot sure about that. There are plenty of guys on here that have trusted GPI and Jannetty Racing for their email tunes, and have had great success with them. But personally, there is noting better than finding a reputable tuner in your area that knows a lot about the LS family of engines, and can tune it properly and safely.

True. GPI is the best imo on ls/lt platforms. But for a complete tune with virtual torque and VVE tuning you will need ti find a private tuner. I know someone if you want his info just dm me.
