They didn't announce weight so it'll probably gain about 200lbs...once you add options you'll probably be looking at more like $60k+...Ford had to go IRS once it got spanked by the ILE...MRC is a feature they stole from GM.

The voices in my head errr...my "sources" tell me the new flatplane V8 has some issues with reliability as well.

It does have a nice flat TQ curve after 3500rpm. Gearing will be essential here.

My guess is the Z/28 will hold its own against the GT350, but the GT350R will be the fastest.
Yep in the meat on the power band for racing the Voodoo is killing it .

I agree. A lot is going to hinge on gearing. I think they are doing a special 3160 tranny just for the GT350 twins.

I heard it is hard to get a clear track and be able to set a lap for a good comparison at the Nürburgring. Maybe Mid Ohio or Road America would be better.

Just like the lighter valve train 4 cams 32v= more rpm = more hp per liter.

Different approaches. Different outcomes...

About the sound... Not really that impressive. Been driving around cammed ls cars with true duals my whole life. It sounds ok

We'll see about an official side by side. One of us will LOL at the other in the end for sure I want to be wrong on this one. It would be awesome to see. It would certainly leave the fan boys of one camp or another squaking. Which makes for entertaining reading.
I could only expect a victory for the gt350r vs the old zeta chassis z28. If not at least a dead heat I would say it's somewhat a failure. Only somewhat failure because it's 15k cheaper than a z28...
The true battle will be alpha z28 vs gt350r... Gt500 might carve the corners also and have over 700 hp...

I always wondered why the Z/28 didn't do another few runs in better weather. Even watching the lap video with the rain is really impressive though 160mph with the wipers on lol.
Mark Reuss said in a video (don't remember where) that it had to do with a general agreement between manufacturers about not taping at the ring when unreleased product is testing or something. Said GM wouldn't release times that didn't have video proof. Even though they have posted much better times.

Are you really going to try and say the rain didn't slow them down? I understand it is the official time. But if your saying the car couldn't go quicker your crazy...

If you read the literature on it they claim they had run several times that had the potential to be quicker etc. this was their best complete lap caught on video but got screwed with rain at the end. It is hard to get track time to yourself amongst other issues. Getting in quality uninterrupted complete laps can be tough at the ring.
Don't kill the messenger this is just what I've read.

Pretty much

The rain lap was one of their best runs they got on video...

I noticed that the new GT350 hp is rated with 93 octane. Many can only get 91 at the pump, so how much hp loss would there be by going to 91? I know in our cars, going to a lower grade is something you can feel.
