Old thread bumped... I replaced my junk filament rear bulbs with these iJDM 7440 bulbs and mounted them with high temperature tape just like the pictures up thread. I'm not sure if they will stay dry or not, and don't have a solution for that yet - I'm considering some sort of shrink wrap where the iJDM male plug meets the OEM female socket but I'm not handy enough to know if that would be sufficient.

I just ordered the iJDM ones linked in here - going to try them this weekend. Is anyone having any problems with them? It says it doesn't stay lit and doesn't interfere with the backup camera - does it cause battery drain? Winter is coming here soon and the car will possibly sit for a week or 2 without being started.
Thanks! |

Update - the ones from Ijdmtoy work! They don't stay on and don't cause the backup camera to stay on. All the others I tried had both issues

I'm not gonna re-read this thread and see what I saiw, but...
Yeah it's that resistor pack that really does the trick. I tried to solder a $0.10 resistor onto another set of bulbs and but then I couldn't get it into the hole properly. The only thing you need to watch out for with the iJDMToy setup is that the resistor can get pretty hot (although it's not like you leave those bulbs on for very long). I used VHB tape to secure them to the body. |

The iJDM setup was junk, when washing the car water gets in there and basically shorted out/fried the resistors and wires. I had the best luck with Diode Dynamics bulbs/ vampire tapped their resistors and zip tied them out of the way. Looks great and bright as hell

If you are going for the splicing route, you could also do with a small resistor rather than a hyper-flashing resistor. Again you don't need to go very low-resistance; the problem is fundamentally different from what causes hyper-flashing for LED turn signals. I would imagine a 100-ohm 3W resistor should just cover about any LED bulbs on the market.
With some heat shrink and wires, you can make a resistor that you can splice into the wires and it will do the job just fine.
