Transmission question - overdrive

I have a 2014 SS with the automatic transmission. We just purchased the car last month with 103k miles. I replaced the trans filter and topped the fluid off with the car running. Everything shifts out smooth but I get the feeling that something is not right. At 80mph I am sitting at about 2100 RPMs and the car never seems to go into overdrive.

What am I missing here?

Well for 1 thing it is an auto, so you could try driving it and shifting with the paddles on the back of the steering wheel while the shifter is in "sport/manual mode" and shift yourself and see if it shifts all the way up to 6th gear, which is the top gear. If so, check out your rpm's there. Someone may have done a gear swap on the car. Not too sure where mine is at when going 80, and is an auto as well.

Everything goes fine with the paddles and still shifts smooth. I have a range device on the car to disable the DOD. Maybe that is why the RPMs are higher. My previous GM cars have always been around 1800 RPMs at the same speed.

2100 sounds right for your car at 80.

I'm looking at a few logs from my SS right now and that is what I am seeing.

Checked mine out and I usually cruise at 75, so poked up to 80 and it is right about 2000-2100. So you are good, and I still have the stock gear in mine..Enjoy that ride!!
