Fake profiles and new threads
I have seen an increase in new members and repetitive old topic threads recently.
Are these profiles fake, bringing up old topics just to drive up activity on this forum? I should have added, they start the thread and never come back. Y'all are missing the point. It's fake profiles asking fake questions to increase activity on the forum which in turn increases the value so the owner can sell it. This forum has been dying for the past couple years. Probably not. If so somebody has way too much time on their hands. I had my '15 LS for five years before I even discovered this forum. Took me a bit to figure out how to navigate, search and post pics 'cause tech stuff is not my thing. These cars are starting to get passed on to second, third, fourth (or more) owners looking for info. And face it, when you look at other forums this one has a pretty good layout.

Most people on here are just people with a Camaro looking for answer and are too lazy to search. So they ask, they get what they need and go. They will never reply or participate to the forum.
Probably only 5% are really active members. Maybe less. It's like that on every forum.

There's plenty of new members and yes they're asking some repetitive questions, so what? If questions aren't asked the forum dies and I'd rather answer "what are the best headers to buy" 1,000 times than have a forum that died.

What is the best tire valve cap to buy? Something that lights in the dark preferably.

Spammers are getting more clever by trying to build a post count.
Then they put in their corrupted links. You usually see these posts in the morning as they are usually 10-12 hours ahead of our time.

a lot of the kids getting 'used' cars are picking up 2010-2013 Camaros and wanting to work on them. I'm seeing a lot of that in my area, and assume it's probably the same all over.

New members with one or two posts bumping old threads are normally spam bots. They hit any old thread and just this morning I deleted and banned 5 different users. Simply report them so we know. Yes these profiles are fake, but some are just new members hitting a google search for something. Definitely not a conspiracy on this site... |
