I've read that the patent on the automatic GPS lockouts expires soon and Uniden plans to provide a firmware to go from the current manual lockouts to automatic on the R7 like the 360 currently has.

Also regarding instant-on radar from police, that's why you always have a rabbit (2nd mouse gets the cheese lol).

Geeze, tough decision, should I exchange for the 360 or keep the R7??? My best buy exchange window is closing, but the R7 saved my ass today. I think both will do the job, my main concern was the volume, but I picked a different alert for Ka and that one gets my attention. I think with the help of the forum and my own realization of different tone alerts I answered my own question. Think I'll stick with the R7, it can only get better wit time, right?

My old Escort 8500 with 15 year old tech picks up KA band from 2 plus miles away. Can someone enlighten me about what is so much better about the latest and greatest radar detectors? I would think if they are overly sensitive and pick up radar from 5 miles away that would be slightly annoying. Are the newest ones somehow better with Lidar? I'm guessing no.

There are many adjustments that can be made on the new ones: lockout repeated false signals or bands that are not used in certain areas, sensitivities, volumes, GPS, etc.

I think that's the right call...keep the R7 and wait for performance firmware updates. Mine came today. So, I put my R3 into my wife's car, moved the 360 to the Camaro, and the R7 in the Charger for DD. She doesn't look at the arrows, that's why I swapped hers.

FWIT...………...I have started using Waze...…….and gotta say it works damn good at notification of police ahead! Not from rear, but my 360 max takes care of that as a moving car can only use radar vs laser. So, knowing that is covered, I focus on the front and get alerts for POLICE ahead...along with accidents, roadside car parked, etc.

+1...I use Waze all the time. Hopefully they ignore the plea to remove the police notification feature. I would think it is positive having that feature as most will slow down if they see a report of police nearby.

Agree, Waze + radar detector is the only way to fly. Glad the ZL1 puts Waze on the infotainment screen.

Filtering is much better now. I used to have the original Redline - with all of the false alerts it was practically useless.

Can someone tell me how this is done? Is it an app that I can download into the system or something I need to run in the background of Android auto?

You can run it from within Android Auto. Open Android Auto on your phone. Add Waze under Apps. Next time you use Android Auto on your car, chose Navigation, and you should be able to select Waze.
