Need advice for phone/GPS mount in car

I currently have this as my top choice. I'd like to get something that doesn't stick to the windshield if possible, but mainly I want a solid mount.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...=A9E8RE6VWMZKT

Any experience would be appreciated.

Thanks!

I should add: My phone is a Note3, so it's pretty large.

Best buy sells a universal kit that mounts to the vents. I think it is Rocketfish (BestBuy's House Brand.) It was around $20
Kinda tricky to mount at first, but then I got it done and it is really solid. I use it for my iphone and it works great.

I have the ProClips mount for the Galaxy 4S and it is great. Well worth the money invested.
Easy to install too!

One thing bothers me about these phone specific mounts - What about in another year when I get a new phone? Will this company still be around? That's why I was gravitating towards a "universal" holder.

I like the option of hooking it to the HVAC vent, that gets it out of the windshield, and gives the Police less to gripe about.

I'm definitely a hands-on guy (ask the girlfriend, lol) and it's easy to tell if something is cheaply made and flimsy.

Proclip stuff is not low quality at all. They do have adjustable holders. I would say they are well worth the money!

They changed the laws here in MN a few years ago about having things mounted to the windshield.

Changed as in how? It used to be illegal to have anything besides a rear view mirror attached to the windshield, as it was obstructing one's vision. I assumed this was still the case.

I've been using one of these http://www.mountek.com/shop/cell-pho...d-gps-devices/ . I put a piece of Velcro on the back of my 5" GPS to keep it on the mount.
