Sorry didn't see the place where this should go or a previous post either.

I won't go into how I got a 1 inch long scratch in the dash (cause it was just to stupid) but how do I fix it now its there?
It might be maybe a millimeter deep but about an inch long.

Any ideas??

I've done it on older cars plastic trim with a haidryer or heat gun on low Carefully !!warm it up untill the ridges from the scratch lay down and it mostly dissappears. GO SLOW and steady. Thats all I've seen on hows To's from TV

can't repair plastic really, best to just leave it alone and call it a scar.

I do not endorse the heat method but it can be used as it can make the plastic pliable enough to work out the scratch. Another option is to gently sand the rough edges of the scratch then have it painted over to match. Usually with an airbrush.

Your best bet without doing any "repair" is to coat it well with a high gloss product like armor all and basically hide the scratch by hiding the white marks.

Why do you say white marks? I don't see anything on this thread about white marks. I too have a scratch on my dash and there is nothing white, it is 100% molded black plastic.

i've used a heat gun before on the glove box and door panels on my truck, and it worked.

A millimeter? That's pretty deep for an interior scratch, man. That's going to require filler.

There's companies out there that repair these things professionally. Try Dr. Vinyl or Fibrenew - they'll often send repair specialists right to your house.

Steelsinger, I work for Dent Wizard and i repair dents/hail damage as well as interior damage. Dash is tricky, if you heat there is a great possibility the damage will actually open further. Without a grain pad of something to lay that material down with once it's heated I'm not sure there is much benefit to attempting. Take it to Carmax or local large dealer group ask who they use and give em 65 bucks to repair and dye it.

For $14 it will probably mask it pretty well... if I was in your position I would buy it to try it personally, but that's personal opinion.
