Going back to stock airbox with gm cai tune

Hey guys

I currently have the gm cai and a Mamo ported throttle body. My car is experiencing a vibration under load in certain gears that we have narrowed down to torque management pulling timing due to too much airflow. I was advised to either get rid of the gm cai or remove the potted throttle body. I’d rather keep the throttle response so I’d like to go back to the stock airbox. Has anyone ran the stock airbox with the gm cai tune still in the car. Any issues?
Thanks

If your not concerned with warranty I’d suggest a tune.

Interesting, I have a vibration under load like your explaining but thought it was just the torque converter shudder. I have a k&n intake and a bdx canned tune. I'm sure if you upgraded the filter in the stock box and ran the GM tune should be fine. Usually stock airboxes on these newer cars are really good.

No aftermarket tune for me. Warranty is important. I was told the maf scaling has changed with this gm tune. I just don’t want to have a problem putting the stock airbox back in and now the car runs like garbage

I’m curious if GM messes up somehow? I have the GM CAI and a pray ported throttle body and I’ve had no issues. At least not that I have noticed.

I have a 2016 2SS A8 with the GM CAI, GM MAF recalibration, and a Mamo PTB with no issues. Did the problem start when you installed the GM CAI or PTB? Or sometime later? It's possible that you have an air leak someplace in the intake that is causing the problem rather than the GM CAI or PTB. I would contact Tony to see what he suggests before removing the CAI. He told me that he would stand behind his work if you notice any problems. If you decide to remove the GM CAI then maybe talk to a dealer first and ask if they can restore the factory tune when you reinstall the factory air box.

Is your mass air sensor clocked in the right location???
This matters on these cold air kits....

Look at 11:29

what Night fall posted. your car and your intake is under warranty. nether needs replacement. Does the dealer know about the ported tb. they will blame that if you tell them its there. They wont know if you dont tell them.

I would put the stock throttle body back on just to see if the issue goes away. Then you should know what is what. Could also unplug the battery and reset the ECU.
Check the seal at the throttle body to manifold make sure the TB is torqued to 10ftlbs
Double check MAF location and reset ECU is adjustment is made.

These are the basics I would go through and probably will just because I’m f**ing crazy about everything being perfect.

Does this CAI really need a tune, the MAF should be able to sense and adjust the tune on it's own.

10fltb (120inlbs) is way to tight. it is 89inlbs

Check your misfire count on all cylinders, might be your wiring.

All it does is reset values in the MAF table, not really a “tune” per se.
