2017 SS - “rattle” on acceleration at low rpms
So for a bit now, my SS has a strange noise when I accelerate from low rpms, and it disappears once rpms are up above a certain range. It sounds like it’s coming from the driver’s side firewall area.
I disconnected the sound tube, but that had no affect. I think it may be the heat shield over the exhaust manifold on the driver’s side. Has anyone else ever had a similar issue and found this to be it? Anyth8ng else to look at/for?

I'm chasing the same rattle myself. So far no luck. Tried isolating the hood release cable, checked for anything loose under the hood, a pillar, dash, door and so far nothing.

Hey, did some chasing a bit ago. I noticed that the drivers side b pillar is a bit loose and hits the seat belt mechanism. The upper panel over the back window also has some play I put a whim on that. I also noticed that my rocker panel where it comes up to the rear or the door also has just a bit of play and if you lightly tap it it rattles. I shimmed that as well. I also played with the cable for the hood release. Took it out and no more rattle. Going to drive it more later to make sure. For a shim I just used gilded up business cards.

My 2019 Camaro has a rattle on low acceleration. Sounds like the bolts are lose the the exhaust pipe. The dealership said it was due to high fuel pressure and some flap system in the exhaust. They have already had to replace all my air conditioning parts ie condenser and piping. The radio is having issues with disconnecting from bluetooth and when using the air condition the radio will constantly pop up with climate off which they cant seem to fix. On going since March 18th 2019. Did an oil change and filter change at 1200 miles due to the lifters tapping. even though they said they wherent tapping. Is anyone one else having issues like these with there 2019 camaro????

I have what sounds like a ticking coming from the instrument cluster (or behind it) around 1800 to 2000 RPM. It goes away and lower and higher RPM. I've also started getting a metal banging when the active rev matching operates, which I suspect might be the NPP flaps snapping open. But what caught my attention the most in your post is the CLIMATE OFF message, which I get intermittently even thought the climate control appears to be operating still (lights are on, temperature can be changed, fans are running). These are all on my growing list of issues to bring up with the dealer at the first service appointment.

Did you figure out what was the cause of your rattle?

This might be related to the transmission. There is a fix for it where the dealer will do a triple fluid flush. Check threads for vibration at about 1500 rpms and see if that fits your condition.

Gentlemen, what you are hearing is the AFM or the NPP valves in the exhaust rattling. They can also squeak. It is possible to lube the valves. There is no fix for this short of replacing the entire exhaust and even then it will come back.

I have this same noise, its hard to describe, and harder to record. If its the NPP valves, then we should not hear it with the NPP fuse removed.. right ?

My rattle is from my exhaust tapping against the skid plate. Found it today trying to think of an easy fix

This sounds like it is the head shield over the driver side cat. I tightened couple bolts and gently pried the shield b/w exhaust pipe to allow bigger gap. My noise went away since. Thanks - Ryan |

22 1SS no NPP A10 8k miles - it makes all sorts of weird mechanical bumblebee R2D2 noises except when its parked and i expect to hear it burp/fart/tweet soon.
it would be weird if it were quieter. the non-NPP exhaust is amazingly loud on a cold start but probably due to slushbox has way less snap-crackle-pop cavitation/fuel-cutoff/decel noise than M6 015 SS Sedan. 1SS no-NPP A10 is quiet at sub-light busy-highway speeds since its turning about 1500 rpm at the posted speed limit. the V4/V8 switching back and forth makes noise as does some of the A10 gear switching so that does make for a sort of cacophony. Its worth it as the V4 mpg is outstanding! The car seems to get 30 mpg at 65 mph in that top A10 gear in V4 mode - tires pumped to 42 psi cold due to low temps and being recommended psi for certain speeds. the owners manual says something resembling: "the car makes weird R2D2 noises from all over at random times, get used to it." |
