GM CAI removal
I'm new here and it sounds like I should remove my GM CAI.
If I remove it and put the stock one back on should I have my car be returned? Car is currently tuned with the mods on my sig.

Why do you need to remove it? A modded car should always be tuned, but I am not sure a CAI requires a tune just to be removed.

Agree- what is making you think you need to remove it?
But, if you decide to remove it, you only need a retune if you had it tuned for that when it was installed (or was in place when you did your other mods and had it tuned while everything was in place)

The GM CAI is different than the other aftermarket CAI units. Specifically, there is a Hydrocarbon Absorber attached to the inside of the MAF sensor housing. The GM "tune" was simply a MAF sensor calibration to make it function properly with the absorber in place. If you replace the GM CAI then you will probably need to have the tune adjusted for whatever new cold air intake you replace it with.

I am 100% sure that the hydrocarbon absorber doesn’t do a damn thing. Idk why you would ever consider removing the CAI. But if you do I’ll sell you my stock one.

Probably because people were saying it was losing power with it on.

I thought GM performance CAI was designed by Cold Air Inductions? If so you'll be fine with it on. I too am wondering why you're thinking of going back to the non-performance version?

Thinking about removing it because several people including pray say it is junk.

Personally I would leave it on the car because it sure looks better than the stock system unless you are going to replace it with another CAI when you do more mods! Of course it’s your Camaro so do what you feel is best for you.

Another brand has a cult like following for sure, and it’s a great product too. But no need to badmouth other products just ‘cause you choose/prefer a different one.

I agree with RCF. No evidence has been shown.
