LT4 in CT5-V Blackwing explodes

Saw this looking through the news:

https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a4...ngine-failure/

GM claims this is the first failure of this type for the LT4 across the board.

Wonder if they put a bad tank of gas in there by accident. LT4s are typically bulletproof

There have obviously been failures, but this is the first of this type that I've heard of.

The article says only the even cylinder bank was affected, so bad fuel is unlikely, it would've hit odd cylinders as well.

My favorite part of the article is this comment:

It is a plot originated by a consortium of GM's corporate enemies (Tesla, Lucid, Rivian, My Little Pony, and Avocado toast) to ruin the internal combustion engine forever. We have to unite against Big Electric, Hasbro, and the Colorado Avocado Commision if we want to continue to enjoy sweet, Smokey tire burnouts, awesomely loud engines and supple, butter like leather interiors.

Do your part! Buy some good homemade grape jam, pick up the latest offering from Parker Brothers for family game night and for THE LOVE OF FROGS.... buy something you can shift yourself people!

I find it interesting that GM would release all of those photos to the press along with their suspected reasons for what caused the damage.

Why not? There’s thousands of LT4’s out there across several GM car (and now truck, with Escalade V!) platforms. If LT4 was experiencing chronic problems, we would’ve heard about them by now. Nothing’s perfect. I give GM credit for jumping on this engine failure, releasing pictures of the teardown, and discussing probable causation. As a ZL1 owner, it actually gives me more faith in LT4 engineering and reliability.

Why not? Historically GM has done everything possible to avoid admitting any type of issue with any vehicle they produced.

Maybe dreaming but it seems like I've seen a few posts here and on the FB ZL1 groups about misfire codes, lean bank etc.......

Considering my car has been at the dealer twice in the past 2 months with the same issue, it sure does! Got an extended on top of that for another 5/60 after that!
