Race Car Definition

I've been looking around online and can't seem to find the true definition of a race car. Maybe because their isn't one and everyone has their own version of race car. I'm just curious what everyone else's thoughts are or if their is actually a true definition especially when you say, "that's my race car".

I think the term depends on the person. I feel a race car is primarily used for just racing and is not a daily. But I’m a car nob so please don’t fact check me.

I jokingly call my cam only car a race car but I actually race it. I think whenever you fully dedicate the car to a specific purpose and are willing to sacrifice creature comforts for a goal it becomes a race car.

A purpose built car for competition purposes.

All others are hybrids

You are right, there are hundreds of Opinions

For example, I have what I think is a Race Car - Full Cage, Full Containment Seat, 6 Point Belts, Racing Coilovers, Lightweight Forged Wheels with Slicks, Cool Shirt system, etc

I know a guy ( No Names) that thinks he has a race car because he goes to the Track for DE's, but there are Zero Safety Mods. He even tells people that he is going Racing even though he has Never raced

Yep that’s my Definition too. You can’t legally drive a race car on the street. You don’t see John Force, Kevin Harvick, or any of those weird Europeans with those funny 6 cylinder cars with no fenders (just kidding sorta, I know, I know, there’s Americans that drive open wheel cars too) driving the cars they win with on the street. Street/strip, street/track isn’t a full on race car in my eyes.

If it goes on a trailer, it's a race car pure and simple...
