LFX and E85

I can fill up with E85 without a problem right? Just want to make sure I don't need to play around with anything to make it run on E85.

I don't believe the LFX engine is designated as flex fuel engine. Otherwise I would think the cap and or window sticker would designate as such. I don't have my manual any more as my daughter now owns our previous 2014 V-6. If I recall though the manual stated not to run anything higher that 15% ethanol.

capability yes, not recommended- NO, just means that the components are ok for ethanol. would need a recal for it to work.

DO NOT PUT E85 IN YOUR CAMARO.

The search button is your friend . Short answer is yes, but you need to get a tune, or a sensor to actually take advantage of it. Possibly new injectors and pump.

the engine is E85 compatible, the fuel system isn't. they designed the engine to be E85 capable so they could use it in other vehicles. the camaro isn't designed for it though.

It is not tuned for E85, nor does it have a sensor....so DO NOT DO IT.

If you tune the car for E85, it can be done, but the moment you wanted to go back to gas you'd have to re-tune it.

Having experienced running E85 in my previous car (STi) and the upgrades / mods required to run it (fuel pump/lines/injectors/tune); unless you have a way of changing maps quickly (between tanks or on the fly) you are going to find it annoying as hell to drive even around town. Also you will generally, in my experience, have much lower MPG with E85 and any slight savings in price are quickly offset by more frequent fill-up, and usually out of the way fill up locations. You will see HP and TQ gains from E85, but at the cost unless you just want a corn-fed drag car, I don't think its worth it IMO.

I think cars capable of using E85 have a yellow fill cap with the words "E85/Gasoline". I just checked my garage and my 2012 Chrysler has the yellow cap while my 2014 1LS has a plain black cap.

I have the lfx engine and put e85 in it once in awhile.
Things you'll experience and notice:
Sometimes the check engine light will come on and also when you try to start the car it will require you to hold the ignition an extra half second or so. But as far as driving it will run fine and as for mpg it will get significantly less because it's hard to stay off the gas because it feels a lot stronger. It could be a placebo effect as far as power but I'm almost certain it has more power.

In all honesty though, that really isn't a good idea. The fuel system is not designed for it. You may be putting premature wear on rubber components due to the even higher alco-content. Generally it's going to be rough on the fuel system. Granted, the motor can handle it... but I wouldn't trust the stock tuning to be doing you any favors while running it.
