Looks like a Roto Fab, however even if it is, their CAI isn’t CARB legal. Source a stock airbox and swap it out for the smog test every 2 years (or chat with some local car guys and see if they know “a guy”). The joys of living in Commiefornia.

Doesn't look like a CARB legal intake anyway, I would swap out the stock airbox if you can as it doesnt take much time.

I spoke with Roto-Fab and you are correct they never had a CARB approved unit though shipped freely into the state. Most likely they did not want to pay the CARB certification fee each year. |

Sell it and buy a carb legal one, unless you want to spend money on a stock unit and manually swap it all the time. Im in california we have what is called STAR reg, and let me tell you something... once you get picked for STAR reg its annual not every 2 years. My bone stock C5 corvette has been STAR reg for many years in a row. I did the little intake on that car and ended up just shoving the factory one on and kept it that way lol

Here is where I am headed, look for a stock air box, Airaid P/N 250-714 or K&N P/N 57-3074 tubes and filters are CARB Approved less than $250.00 fix. Buy a complete stock unit on Ebay and just say F&*^K it and when I drive it around its stock a $150.00 fix. The car was smogged as is on 1/13/18 I bought the car on 1/18/18 from a very good friend, I have the 1/13 smog certificate from a local smog shop and when I took it back to him he said i am not touching it. When I told him I was present on 1/13 he still said NO. In 2018 his facility was STAR too, maybe he thinks I was a secret shopper. Anyway I got two more years before I exit this S#*THOLE. |

We have our ways around it but you know the saying...you gotta pay the cost to be the boss. and Star stations are selected by the smog program if you have GOOD consistent reports, he wont risk it, them losing STAR reg that year is more money lost for them. All i can say is go to real car meets chat it up with fellas with REAL boosted builds and go from there. Its such a big bitch, and star makes even the hook up questionable if they are even STAR certified!

**** California. Problem is people leaving are trying to turn other states into another commie shithole. I’d switch it out. 10 minutes tops and I’d do it just to know I can.

Most (yes I didn't say all, I know a guy running a rotofab...besides the OP, ) of them either switch out parts after the inspection, or are lucky enough to live in a county that doesn't have smog. Mind boggling how that can be the case, a few miles away and no hassles.
