Lugging the LT1
There seems to be a debate about lugging. The manual is very general about lugging and says to avoid it. Can you tell us what you consider lugging in the LT1? Thanks!

Sounds like useful knowledge for anybody who has a car with a conventional manual transmission (if it happens with an automatic, and I've never heard of this happening, the car has a bigger problem). I doubt it's just an LT1 matter, or just a V8 issue . . .
I suspect that most people with much manual transmission experience would recognize lugging when it happens (and then do something about it), but it'd be nice to get some official or at least semi-official definition. Norm

Lugging is simple to understand and there is info all over the web. Based on torque specs, it's harder to detect on some engines like the Lt1 where the car can almost come to a complete stop in 4th before it becomes obvious. Still, understanding it and avoiding it as much as possible should be a fundamental part of owning a manual, IMO.
Looking forward to the info in this thread. |
