Question about option

Looking at 2019 2SS camaros and see most have this option;

Audio system, Chevrolet Infotainment 3 Premium system with connected Navigation, 8" diagonal HD color touchscreen, AM/FM stereo $495.00

What is the difference in this and just the standard infotainment system??

It’s all on the Chevy site where you build a car.

Connected navigation system1 with enhanced voice recognition
8" diagonal HD color touchscreen2
Bluetooth®3 audio streaming for 2 active devices for compatible phones
In-vehicle apps capable with additional memory
Cloud4 connected personalization for select infotainment and vehicle settings
Voice command pass-through to phone for compatible phones
Apple CarPlay™ capability for compatible phones5
Android Auto™ capability for compatible phone6

7 inch screen, no navigation and standard speakers, not Bose. Worth the 495. for the upgrade.

The $495 option is the addition of navigation only. The Bose 9 speaker system (in the coupe) and 8" screen are standard on the 2SS. I am picking up my 2SS tomorrow and opted against the navigation. With Apple CarPlay I use my phone for navigation.

The base radio has a 7” screen, no Bose, no Nav. and I believe lacks the ability to do the optional onstar data wifi plans for an extra monthly fee.

The upgraded $900 tech package is an 8” screen, adds the Bose radio, and the capability for the wifi and onstar data plans. The Bose is absolutely worth every penny even if you never use any data plan.

Navigation is another $495 option on top of the $900 and adds the in dash speed limit display. This is not worth the $500 since spartphones already do this.

For a 2SS The only difference between the base and the upgrade is Factory Navigation versus no navigation. No difference in screen size on the 2SS. Just the addition of factory Nav, and honestly I don't have it, and don't really need it cause I'm constantly using Waze on android auto.

So say you don't have a smart phone and want some basic navigation from time to time. Do you have to get the NAV upgrade to do that?

Yes -- unless you want to pay for OnStar.
