It’s 23 here with windchill of about 7. Roads are clear. No precip. Hopefully this is just another Chicken Little event from our weather people.

Neighbors have their Yorkie chained out on their front porch. Not sure how much longer he can last.

Posts like this are why we need a "like" button. I have an adjustable suspension, and totally need a "disbelief" setting now.

Anywho, my Camaro is definitely parked. Summer only tires and below zero temps are a stupid combination. I have a Power Wagon with 3 peak rated tires for being stupid in stupid weather if I can't smartly stay home.

As far as EVs, well, at least they won't kill you with CO2 poisoning. Anybody catch how many people died in Buffalo in cars during the blizzard stuck in snowdrifts? Gas or EV, be prepared to car camp. Tea candle heater, blankets, maybe some MREs and water, and a trash bag and toilet paper. Don't want frost bitten cheeks...

This seems like a pretty fair assessment of how things went.

I saw a 20% hit in my power consumption driving my Model 3 90 mile round trip( most of it on the highway) from the latest blast with temps at 5 F from my consumption doing the same trip over the summer.

Most of the comments in the linked article were about reduced range and slower charge times. The majority seemed to think that regardless of temperature EVs were fine for shorter trips but the cold really added a lot of time to longer trips.

Certainly since it seems most non-Tesla's don't precondition their batteries when navigating to a charger.

When navigating to a supercharger with Tesla's, they will put heat into the battery to precondition it to accept the faster charge rates when plugged in.

Many of the comments were about the chargers not working well at lower temps irrespective of the temp of the batteries.
