Which Tire??

Well I finally decided on a set of rims that I want for my car. Now to get a set of tires. I have been looking at the Michelin Pilot Sport 4s, Michelin Sport Cup 2 and the Nitto GT555 G2 tires. I am looking at something that can handle great on the street. I am also looking at getting a procharger with a cam in the near future. What is everyone using and what are your thoughts??

Street? Probably take the Cup 2s off the list. They are DOT R compounds...and as such; they wear quick, need heat, and will not like any sort of rain or wet.

I truly like the Goodyears G:3s on the SS 1LE and ZL1...but you'd have to have 20" wheels, I don't think they make them in very many sizes.

Check out Continental's ExtremeContact Sport. New tires, in the same class as Michelin PS4S. Supposedly pretty good and both are available in a wide range of sizes.

New rims will be 20x10 in the front and 20x12 in the rear.

I think I narrowed it down to two tires now. The Nitto NT555 G2 or the Michelin Pilot Sport 4s

The Nitto's are a good tire for the car, but not the ultimate in performance. I run them as I don't drag race neither, but I'll do some highway runs in Mexico here and there. They're good enough for that (I run 275/305's). The Nitto's do however feel REALLY floaty in highway speeds, so I have to keep the psi at around 30-32 psi and that's before I drive them not when they're warm. Other than that, the tread wear is pretty damn good. I have no experience with any Michellin's on the car yet, but on the 18' Mustang, they were pretty damn amazing too.

I chose the Nitto NT555 G2. Haven’t put them on yet but from all that I’ve read it would appear to be a good choice for me at least.

If you can swing it, get the P4S, literally the best street tire.

I'm in the same boat right now picking between those two. My Nitto's are at about 28k miles right now (staggered setup) and at the end of their life. Overall pretty happy with them, but there have been plenty of times they haven't hooked enough for my liking. Might just spend the extra $500 and get a solid P4S Setup.
