Leaking Oil Pan
I have done my oil pan gasket twice already I never had a problem with the gasket leaking until I had to drop the pan when I replaced my pump and a few other stuff when I broke a lifter , anyways I had everything back together first time I used a MAHLE gasket torqued everything to specs and using the correct sequence started leaking right away I thought it was a bad gasket so I bought an OEM one dropped the subframe again and it still leaks, I’m sure it is not the rear main seal because it is coming from the front middle and back rear bolts i checked the torque converter and no oil splashed on it just to make sure it wasn’t the rear main, could it be a warped oil pan or excess crankcase pressure causing the pan to leak but I never had any issues with a leaking pan until I dropped the pan I made sure everything was clean before installed. could cleaning the pan in the sun cause it to warp, I did install the gasket dry as recommended or should I use a sealer as well I really don’t want to drop it a 4th time

The gasket goes on dry except for the front edge where it meets the timing cover. And no, cleaning it in the sun would not warp it. Did you clean the mating surfaces well before reinstalling it with like a scotch brite pad or similar?

Yes I cleaned it very good made sure nothing was on the pan or block and no I didn’t use any on the front edge I will next time but it’s leaking from everywhere else

You can try a crankcase vent to see if it helps as it's a possibility. I kept leaking rear mains road racing until I went with a baffled oil filler breather I install on track days. Now I get maybe a drop or two on the trailer because I'm not replacing another seal until I do a clutch at the same time. Get a machinists grade straight edge and check pan and block for trueness, a shop may let you borrow one if you bribe them with beer. Many people use something abrasive to clean the gasket areas and dorm them up. Doesn't necessarily hurt to use a sealer as long as you don't go hog wild and use a few tubes worth. What oil pressures are being seen at idle and cruising? Did you use the high volume or pressure pumps?

That might occur if the sump isn't pulling up square to the block, I assume its all flush?

I will try that and yes I have a meling pump it’s a high volume the l99 comes with that stock I see about 32 at idle and 65 under load with oil at operating temp what type of breather are you using,

The pan is sitting flush everything was lined up before torquing down

Are you sure it's the pan that's leaking? At this point, I'd be looking for other sources. Clean up the engine with some kind of washer/degreaser, get a UV dye for the engine oil and a black light. This article mentions using foot powder spray as well. Either of these should work. With an aluminum pan leak, I always worry about a hairline crack in the pan itself. These pans appear to be diecast or low pressure cast.

It’s coming from the pan forsure, today I’ll clean it up again and use a dye I’ll post some pics

Did you use silicone on the rear of the pan as well? There is a rear main cover that has it's own gasket to seal to the rear of the block. If you don't use a bit of silicone where all three meet it could leak.

I did not use any but I’m going to have to drop it again and will use some I don’t want to have to drop it a 4th time but it doesn’t make sense for it to leave all around as well

I agree. I hate doing things multiple times, but sometimes it takes that to get it figured out. Take a lot of detailed pictures for us once the pan is off, maybe we can help solve this issue.
