Talking Whipple-charged Camaro in for upgrades - Lashway Motorsports

This Camaro was purchased by a client of ours who lives out of state. First thing he wanted us to do was test the current tune and the health of the engine as it is equipped with a Whipple Supercharger and full bolt ons.

Preliminary dyno testing produced less then impressive numbers (less than 500 RWHP with quite a bit of boost). The tune also had some issues - mostly with timing and AFR, and driveability. In all, the tune that was written by another shop wasn't done well, and hurt the engine.

We conducted leak down and compression tests and found that a few cylinders we're damaged. Most likely damaged ringlands or rings.

We're in the process of removing the engine, and sending it out for rebuild.

Once the shortblock is back, we will re-assemble the longblock and Whipple, and head back to the dyno for a proper tune, one that will support this powertrain for the life the vehicle.

Stay tuned for updates as we progress!

Displacement should stay pretty much the same, I think the pistons are the only thing that will get forged and drop 1/2lb on compression. Also looking to put in a small cam and maybe a new stall converter the car. I would love to forge everything but money is an issue.

There you go. We're going to help him get this car back to it's proper power output, but with a bit of engineering behind it this time. Lower the CR slightly which will enable us/him to run more power on the same octane more reliably.

Cam and Verter would also be a wise choice on this vehicle- especially while everything is out anyway. As always though, we do not pressure customers into making decisions they are not comfortable with.

More updates next week.

This vehicle was tuned and built locally here in FL. No relation to PCM.

They did my last car. I bought this car in Florida and since Lashway was pretty close to the car it was a no brainer to let Eric and Josh have it before it gets sent up to me.

They are some of the nicest people I have worked with, I know my car is in good hands with them.
