Question Which Mod Shop?

Time to send the Black Beast off for a little additional bhp injection.

It's down to Hennessey, Lingenfelter or Nickey. I'm looking past the immediate "permagrin" and trying to figure which one will carry the most positive dollar impact down the road at an auction like Barrett-Jackson or Mecum. I'd like your input.

Cheers - Boyd

I think I'd pick Lingenfelter then Nickey and Hennessy last. I think I'd also consider price for comparable mods, since it may or may not give you the financial return you hope for.

The financial return that I'm hoping for is the situation that doesn't yield a lower resale price than I might get with the car bone stock.

Sure. I realize that. I guess it comes down to the name recognition of the tuner you choose and whether or not modding a ZL1 will net any return over a stock one years down the road.

I am extremely happy with my Nickey. Stefano treats you right and Cory can really tune a car. One thing that steered me towards Nickey Chicago was the history behind it.

Let me know what kind of package you have in mind and I will see what I can put together for you.

Also, here is a whole thread of references

If it was me, I'd go Livernois Motorsports. But I live in Michigan so it's local. My second choice would be Lingenfelter. They're such a huge name with a great warranty, that I think the car would be easier to sell in a few years and hold more value for your mods.

My 1999 Z28 was hard to sell because it was turbocharged by a shop no longer in business. Scared some buyers away.

There are many good builders/tuners in the market place today. A few excellent options were mentioned.

While our option packages will stack up against anyone's. There is more to a car build than just a dyno sheet.

We have been building Hi-Hp street applications for a long time and the vast majority of our work is with Camaros of all vintages.

While there is never a guarantee of future values our builds have done very well at auction relative to others, including offerings from Ford and Chrysler.

We also provide a limited warranty on all of our work and are triple A rated by the BBB.

If you would like to discuss a build, just call me at the shop. 630-377-1222.

Regards,

Stefano

Highly recommend LIVERNOIS MOTORSPORTS

Compare the price points for the builds between them all (they are all top notch company's A++++, you can trust them ADM, Ligenfelter) but for the Stage III package from Livernois was the best bang for the buck!

Found the best way to speed my ride up. Sold the ZL 1. Bought something much lighter, but still loaded with bhp and torque. Saved the Camaro radiator cap and drove the new car under it.

Thanks for all your help with your posts to this thread.

I will be selling all my ZL1 goodies from the GM ZL1 outdoor car cover and Roto-Fab CAI base black kit NIB, all the heritage documents to a 1:25 AMT plastic scale kit (NIB). Check classifieds after this coming weekend.

Cheers -Major Boyd
