I wouldn’t be surprised if they do release a sedan using the Mustang platform. I believe the next generation Mustang will share a platform with the Explorer. Wouldn’t be a big leap if they decide to release a 4 door Sedan based off the platform. Ford has axed every car in its lineup but the Mustang. Perhaps the only cars Ford will offer is a pair of sports car. A 2 door (Mustang) and 4 door offering. Question is, will they call this 4 door Sedan a Mustang or something else?

Someone in my parking garage has a blue Mach-E. Looks pretty good for an SUV. Looks nothing like a Mustang of course.

20 years ago the 3 series handled like the ultimate driving machine. If you got the base 4 cylinder it was slow as molasses but it still had laser sharp handling, dare I say, even better handing than a 4th Gen Z28. It’s just that they were slow unless you got the M3.

That was what I was saying.

Today BMWs suck as far as handling.

The SS sedan wouldn’t have been a failure if they’d have built them here (thus they’d have been a little cheaper) and promoted them better. They were limited production but I’m not sure it was exactly on purpose for “collect ability” reasons as much as they simply didn’t have the capacity and infrastructure to build more.

I’m sure if it was up to Bob Lutz they’d have built 200,000/yr

IIRC The SS was only brought here to fill up volume at the factory so it was never meant to be a huge seller.

Read the article……..Ford is not outselling Tesla let alone the Model 3.

To sell at that volume they would have needed the SS to be the Impala with a V6 version. But GM failed round 1 with Pontiac GT8 and GXP.

Loved my SS and miss it often. But the reasons I tired of it were the dated styling and interior. Almost traded my 14 for a 17 but it would have been basically the same car.

Didn’t they offer the 3.6 in the Caprice PPV which was essentially the same chassis maybe lengthened as the SS?

The issue with SS, from what I have seen from a review(can't remember from whom, maybe Doug DeMuro?), is that it looked way too plain for a performance sedan.

Compare the following pics. The Chevy SS looks like a freaking Camry compared to a Charger. Dare I say, it looks even more boring than a current Honda Accord.

I mean, I like sleepers, but this is just way too plain. There is absolutely no spice in the design.
