I hope it comes with the 6.2 standard. Otherwise, it wouldn’t be very appealing compared to the Raptor. Even then, a 6.2 Trail Boss is already over $55k. Unless the ZR2 is a relatively cheap option, it’s going to struggle sales wise.

Agreed. Although if they follow the Colorado formula, nothing special on the powertrain side beyond what is offered already.

The difference is the Colorado power train is already one of the better ones available. There aren’t any 500-700 horsepower midsize trucks running around.

Well, there are Escalade mules running around with the LT4. All this development applies to the platform. I just doubt GM takes that big of a swing on the initial release. I bet the ZR2 follows the Colorado formula. DSSV shocks. Front/rear lockers. Bigger tires. Skid plates, etc. 60K. Add a 6.2 for 3K. Chevy sits back and watches the TRX/RaptorR war.

Typical GM. Ford & Dodge develop true monsters and Chevy adds some stickers and a price increase. Ok, more than just stickers but no one is going to look at a Raptor or TRX and think the Chevy is a competitor. Just how big a niche is mall crawler anyway?

I have no doubt it will be capable, especially if it’s basically a scaled up Colorado ZR2. The problem is 33s and some DSSVs aren’t going to counter what the Raptor brings to the table for slightly more money.

The Colorado ZR2 is about a 8K premium over the Z71 for reference.

I doubt the ZR2 will come with the Custom trim specs.

ZR2 will likely be pretty well equipped. It represents the off road offering for the "High Feature" Silverado trims.
