New GM Motors - Could one make it in 2021 ZL1?
Apologies if this is a dupe.
Imaging the possibilities if some of these new motors could make it into a ZL1? https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...ine-guide.html

I don’t know why they waste so much money on new engines. Just drop the LT4 and LT5 and all is well. That’s what AMG and M does. Seems to work for them.
The z06 engine should be the LT5. Money saved.

As of right now I don't think GM plans to put much money into Camaro through the end of the 6 gen in 2023. Maybe some crazy marketing folks will figure out how to smuggle the LT5 into a few ZL1s but don't expect any big changes from here on, and that includes any totally new power plants.
We'll get new stripes or wheels or some such but that's going to be it.

I wouldn’t hold my breath waiting for these engines being put in the 6gen Camaros especially the LT5 in the ZL1! Highly doubtful but who knows! Only GM can make that decision!

They have a NA 6.6L that is in the 2020 trucks. Might be a nice fit for a Z/28?

I dont think a motor above the LT4 will go into the Camaro in the next 1-2 years, if only because Chevy wants all the focus on their new star, the C8 Corvette.
Giving the ZL1/ZLE an LT5 would make a track monster that could rival or beat the LT2 Corvette, and muddy the waters of the publicity and accolades they're getting. Only after the LT2 Corvette starts deliveries and has time for reviews, followed by the thunder of the C8 Z06, would it make sense to deliver a 700+ HP Camaro. Maybe in the final year of the C6 like they did with the C7 ZR1, and by then it makes more sense to use one of the new motors for a high revving flat-plane NA Z28 or a TT ZL1, vs the LT5. |

If that document is for the 2021 models it shows the LT5 being in a front engine application. That being said the Corvette is only mid engine now so one would assume the Camaro or top level V Cadillac would be getting the LT5
