Orders to San Diego!

The Navy has decided to send me to what many sailors claim is the best home port in the fleet.

In Pensacola, we have weekly car meets every Saturday night. All kinds of cars show up. Some hooning takes place. We all talk a little trash. It's a good time. Is there something similar in San Diego?

There's always something happening in the San Diego area.
In Ramona, (about 45 minutes from the base) there is an American Graffiti Cruise Night every Thursday. We cruise Main Street, up and down a few times then hang out and check out some pretty bad ass cars (all makes, models and years).
There are regular "typical" cruises, where we drive the highways and byways of SoCal. There are numerous autocross events and of course car shows.

Welcome to sunny San Diego!

It'll be good to finally take the Camaro somewhere that has a lively car scene. Pensacola has some action, but it sounds dull by comparison.

Lived in Pensacola for 6 years... Escambia HS grad... ex Navy brat.

You'll love the car scene, but the beaches in CA don't compare.

Talk to me about getting registered. I have headers and high-flow cats.

I know. I'm trying to see if there are any workarounds.

I think there is some sort of exemption for military on active duty.
check this site
https://www.dmv.ca.gov/portal/dmv/?1...cts/militaryvr

Also I suggest you look into SoCal AAA (auto club) they are very helpful if you do need to get it registered

If I'm reading this correctly, I am considered a nonresident because my home of record will not be California. In that case, I can register, but any registered vehicle still has smog testing.

What is the procedure for smog testing? I can pass an OBD check, but I won't pass a sniff.

Your correct. You can hold reg in other state but as far as I know its not forever. Maybe a yr or so. I say this as I buddy that lived by me was from TX and held it why he was here. He ended up moving back there.

I KNOW someone in Temecula.

Thank you
