Don't be so quick to judge. I just watch Ultimate Factories - Camaro again, definitely looks like they used a heavy duty chain to me when they are assembling our engine. You can get a good look at it in one of the close up shots.

I was told low oil condition might lead to a chain problem. Keep the oil level up and we should not see an issue. Time will tell. By the way this whole chain issue was discussed in previous threads at great length. Do some searches and you should find some history.

Timing chains are the same in all of the 3.6 engines unfortunately. Ugh.
#12616609 for the primary chain
#12616608 for two of the secondary chains

They HAVE been changed up to #12633451 for Primary and #12633452 for secondaries. Hopefully this will correct the issues.

I thought I had read somewhere that the chains were upgraded.

Heres the picture you posted in the LLT/Holden thread. Looks heavy duty to me.

They share common parts though. That's the whole point of the global architecture. I don't think that GM is going to make a special chain just for the High Feature 3.0, and another for its 3.6 cousin. That would be inefficient and waste money.

Chock up another v6 weak point. Timing chains, second gear issues, pressure plate bolts loose, Direct injection (which is good but bad for tuners)

I really want to do cam regrinds and ported heads and an intake upgrade on the one I am getting. I think with some headers and a single turbo it would be a potent motor. Put a t56 conversion behind it and fix some of the other camaro weak points it would be Great Then rip it all out put it in a 2000 s-10

$101.69 for a fresh set of chains shipped....awesome pricing, just not a fan of the ship times I've seen from gmpartsdirect....obviously the build will have to wait until after these show up :(
