Caught shop abusing my car

For those of you that have not been following my Crashed ZL1 1LE

I explained to the shop that I have video cameras in the car that are recording everything because I've had cars in the past that were abused by shops.
I expressed my concern about the engine only having 400 miles on it and that I'm still breaking it in.

They insisted that they would never ever do that with a customer car...

Well I caught them.

They didn't even let the engine warm up first.

I informed the shop manager when I picked up the car.

PS - I had the car locked in "Stealth/Quiet Exhaust Mode" -- This was a body shop, not engine repair, no need for revs.

Just looked at the video and he doesn't seem to rev it that high. Like mid 2000s Max in my opinion.

I know you are even more cautious with it and they should have respected it, but it is not as bad as you make it sound.

It looked more like he was listening for something. You trippin bro. Lol, just joking. It's a very expensive car and you're almost as paranoid as I was when I got mine. But to ease your mind, it doesn't look like he did anything out of the ordinary. She'll be fine. Don't let it bother you.

Just as the others said, sounds much less than 4k rpm, he was nowhere near WOT and the engine probably even enjoyed those revs. I'd say just let it go

The car was in stealth mode.

I'm not worried about damage, but I do think its pretty F'd up.

This was a body shop, not an engine repair shop. There's no need for them to rev it.

Like all of the other posts indicate, that was absolutely normal behavior. It looks like the body shop worker was trying to see if there was any rattle or anything in the reassembled front end.

Ok yea there was no need for him to rev it. And it kinda did sound like he went a bit higher than I would have wanted for a brand new engine in break in period. I would be a bit pissed I guess.

It's par for the course. Every time I get new tires someone revs my car. This has been the case for all my nice cars. They shouldn't do it, but they always do and then you look crazy for saying anything because they don't share the passion you do for your car. It would piss me off a little bit, but hey what can you do?

Who knows what his intentions were, doesn't look like he was joy revving more like searching for sounds since he popped the hood afterwards. But yes I can see why you'd be on edge since its brand new and $.

This was an hour before delivery. Any body work had been assembled a week earlier. I had spent the last week just waiting for the hood wrap.

I don't think he was inspecting rattles, if so there should have been someone listening from the outside. Checking the outside cam of my dashcam shows no one else there.

I wasn't pissed, I just let the manager know it happened. I told him no harm done, but I also said that whether it was necessary or not, they should be aware that customers have cameras in their cars these days and should probably be informed -- especially cars like ours.

Either way, because I don't have proof one way or another, I've not included it in my yelp review.

Wow, dude your seriously paranoid. Looks like to me he was listening for something, barely revved the car then got out and did something under the hood seems perfectly normal to me. Hopefully, his boss understands some customers have serious trust issues or just love drama, who knows, either way sad.

You're overreacting dude. That is in no way abuse. Did he need to rev it a bit? No, but in no way did he do anything that would damage the car.

I get it, you have a nice car that you paid a lot of money for but please don't be that guy. Please resist the urge to be hyper offended and start demanding that the shop fire the employee.

And YELP review? Every time I hear someone mention YELP I can't help think of the South Park episode.

I wouldn't be worried about that at all. I understand your paranoia, I'm the same way, especially after the nightmare I went through with my Shelby. Looks like he was either listening for something, or just really loved the car and wanted to hear a little growl. Either way, he didn't do anything that should cause any damage. If that damaged the car, then you have bigger issues to worry about lol
