All that plus offering buyout separation to up to 18,000 salaried employees. Buy stock now. Wall Street loves strong quarterly earnings and Wall Street loves staff reductions. Getting both on the same day is bound to lift the share price.

Guess I retired too soon. If I’d known this was coming I could have stayed in an extra year and a half and gotten incentive money to do what I was already gonna do.

Yeah, despite approximately the same revenue ($35.8B for GM; $34.6 at Ford), GM made an extra 2.1 billion in earnings before interest & tax.

Ah, but you're forgetting something: GM is an automaker. Wall Street seemingly hates automakers. Exception is Tesla, but they're treated like a tech company because they trade on assumed potential not actual results.

GM closed at 36.59. Up $3.05. I’ll take 9% gain. Now, to your point, I’d be shocked if it held that price for more than a week. So if you bought yesterday, sell tomorrow and bank the 9%.

That is a pretty good jump. In the past week they've gone up about 20%, but back in June they were up in the low $40 range.

I hope I never understand how investors rationalize things.
