Help with buying a 1SS 1LE
Within the next week i am going to buy a 2014, 1SS 1LE. It has 92,000 miles and its going for $17,000. Its in really good condition and it has all the 1LE things the strut tower brace, suede sterring wheel the 20" ZL1 rims. What do i need to know, is the price too much. Is it too much power for me. (I drive a v6 camaro)

That’s a great price for a 1LE honestly. Congratulations! Did you find it in ABQ? It’s not stolen is it lol??! I live in the farm town 505 as well. Change all the fluids once you get it and you should be good. The LS3/tr6060 is a pretty strong combo but not completely bullet proof. That’s where the mod fever comes i!
I can’t help you with whether it is too much power or not but if you just take it easy and get to know the car before really getting after it you will likely be fine.

5th Gen 1LEs were only available as a manual transmission. That’s why they got the 3:91 gears, because the 6060 in them had different ratios specifically for road course racing, than the normal SS 6060.

Ahh... Shit for 17k I would buy it. That is a good price. As long as it doesn't have any major issues I would take it and run.

92K? Just gettin' broke in! Great price. Fantastic cars. Perfect power level for a DD or hobby car. Post pics after purchase.

its not like you have to keep the gas pedal floored all the time, just use what you want.

I bought my 11' Camaro SS after owning a 200hp 87 Trans Am GTA. I can tell you that in stock form, the SS was fun, but it left me wanting more power almost immediately. Its fairly tame, and the car being as heavy as it is. Even when you are being "dumb" it is very easy to control. My car now has a blower on it making 530rwhp and I still feel like its hard to "lose control" altough at this point in the game I have quite a bit of suspension upgrades.
That being said the 1LE does have a better stock suspension then the SS and although the gearing is different. Just don't give it the beans the first time you get in it. My rule of thumb is to drive a new car for atleast a week or two before I try to test it hard. haven't put my car in a ditch yet. The Camaro clutch pedal is probably my biggest gripe and still is to this day. My trans am although it was from 30 years ago and alot less power, was so smooth. Even when I did my ls swap to a t56 magnum with a mcleod clutch the engagement was butter smooth. The Camaro clutch kinda grabs all of a sudden and takes a little getting used to.

One major thing after getting the 1LE. Never call it a "mero". The price is pretty fair given the mileage. Are there any upgrades done to it already?
To make sure its a real 1LE, check the trunk, under the mat on the left side there's a RPO sticker. You should see FE6 and 1LE on that sticker. Another thing is the steering shaft is white. Some things that can't be faked. Power is totally subjective. You have to have a respect for the power it does have. Any car can get you in troublesome situations. No respect of a cars power or capability leads to it being crashed.

Awesome find!! If in fact that it is a real 1LE, that's a really fair price. I'd buy it unless it had some obvious problems. As mentioned, change all the fluids to freshen it up from there. And as for the "too much" power, just drive the car as a normal human being would, get to know the car and what it has, and can do before you go off on any tangents. The driver has limits, and so dos the car, just don't go past them and you will be fine. Sbatch it up before someone else does!! Good luck.

Is it just me or are 5th gen prices down at the moment? Heck last year you couldn't even find a V8 for less than $20k with hardly under 100k miles. But that is a fantastic deal I would jump all over that.

Sounds like a good deal, but I'd get a Carfax on it to check it's history for accidents, number of owners, etc.
Also, you might want to check to see if you can get the window sticker from GM from here: https://cws.gm.com/vs-cws/vehshop/v2...NAAED8RG123378 Just replace your the example VIN # with the one you want at the end. Not entirely sure if this tool will work with older vehicles though.
