NEED ADVICE Heating Issue

NOOB HERE My son owns an 2012 Camaro RS 45th Anniversary Edition V6 Automatic

My son called me the other day and said that his Heater was blowing cold
brought the car to me changed the thermostat and housing which is an PITA BTW ..Noticed the water pump leaking changed that ..Burped the system jacked the front up and then lifted the rear just o make sure i get coolant everywhere inside the block ..Still No Heat ..Drove it for 15 miles and still nothing..I let it set and run while i tinkered with other issues on the car and heater started working..I was like Great ..Let it set overnight drove it to University of Oklahoma about 30 miles away and no heat..Finally started blowing somewhat hot about 5 minutes from his house..
Both Upper and lower hoses are hot ...Both Heater core hoses are Hot ..
Im banging my head against the wall here ...Am I missing something ?

I made sure all blend doors are working by swithcing all the settings

Any input would be greatly appreciated

Did you try flushing the heater core? I remember reading that some of the guys on here had issues with their heater cores getting plugged/clogged.
Full Disclosure: I'm not a mechanic. I'm barely a DIYer.

EDIT: Never mind. I missed the part where you already checked the hoses and that both were hot.

Definitely sounds like a blend door or actuator issue.

I was hoping and praying it wouldn’t be the blend door

In your original post you stated that you checked all the blend doors. How did you do that? Seeing as how you've checked every possible component that would be prohibiting your heat, the guys may be right about your blend door, in which case free yourself up a Sunday and keep the ibuprofen handy...

I checked by switching them between Defrost , Feet , Vent etc using the dial indicator …I could hear flow going from Defrost to vent to feet ..

Cars have two different doors and actuators, the mode door and the blend door. The mode door controls location (defrost, console, and feet) and the blend door controls heat and ac. What you are describing, you didn't check function of the blend door, just the mode door.

Do this simple test:
1. Drive the car 10-15 min to warm it up.
2. Turn the thermostat to maximum heat.
3. Turn OFF AC (read arrow)
4. Turn ON recirculate (Green arrow)
5. Turn blower to mid-full power

With this test, are you getting any heat?

Just so you know in this video he says "thats the heater core" It not, its the evaporator for the AC. The heater core is buried up behind the blend door. Be very careful cutting around the evap core, if you nick it you will be pulling the entire dash out of the car to replace it.
