If it's 88 octane I wouldn't run it. If it's like e85 then you need a conversion.

Just realized your a 2ls and I'm not familiar with that platform. If you run 87, 88 should be fine. If it's like e85 you may need a sensor. I don't know if the 6's are flex fuel or not.

Just looked it up it contains up to 15% ethanol.

Contains up to 15% ethanol. Ethanol is made by corn.

Ethanol in your car unless otherwise specified is crap. Think of it as a filler.

Ever notice most high octane number gas pumps (94 octane) will say 0 ethanol? Thats why it costs more. More filler=less performance.

Petro 94 contains ethanol as does esso's 93. The only ethanol free premium gas I have found is shell 91.

Near where I live in central Florida, there are a few Shell stations that sell 88 Octane ETHANOL FREE gasoline. I have never tried it, nor would I with my tune/LS engine, but I am curious as to the science behind it.

In other words, what is the effective octane rating if it is listed as 88 octane, but has no ethanol? Who is the target consumer of this? Boat engines? Vehicles that sit for a period of time?

Further searching I found a gas pump advertising 88 octane fuel with a sticker beside it saying to be used in flex fuel engines only.

Depending on the 2020 election outcome, you may be converting to peanut oil.

I use it in things like lawnmower, weed eater, chainsaws, generator, tiller, any equipment that might set for the winter. Ethanol is tough on things like that or at least has been for me. Only one station near me sells 87 ethanol free, other than that any fuels around where I live contain 10% corn. Not to mention we can only get 91 octane around here. Run E85 in my SS and its about 70% year round.

I always run 91, 100% . but as this 88 is 85%, I won't be trying it.

thanks, all!

Wawa near me:

That 87 Octane was going in my Lancer btw. We can't even get gas here now. Lines are ridiculous for any stations that even have gas due to the hurricane. When Irma passed in 2017 we couldn't get gas for a week.
