Low flying aircraft over my home- South of Boston.
Two aircraft just flew over my residence in the Blue Hills area of Canton/Stoughton MA, at approximately 8:51 pm. Quite low. Perhaps 150 feet; I could clearly see the distance between the nav lights as they flew about 100 feet to the right of my apartment, directly over the units on the other side of this section. Low enough to make the guess in the dark by the lights. Yes I know, most people judge that wrong. Trust me here.
Heard them about a minute before they flew over. One definitely a helicopter. Felt like the air cav assault in Apocalypse Now. Only been that close to a helo in flight once before, at a munitions range at Devens, with a helo picking up inert bombs for test drop (long story). At a guess one was fixed wing, but it was nearly out of sight by the time I stuck mt head out the window. First a/c went almost directly West. Following aircraft was the helo and it turned sharply at the treeline of my complex, heading WNW. There is a small airport almost due West of here, about 5 miles away. First aircraft on approach? Not a typical pattern, especially at night. No idea what was happening. Maybe the helicopter was Police, escorting the first a/c to approach. Just a guess. Anybody know anything more?? Nothing on the news.

You don't get escorts to airports, and for VFR flights, you can do whatever approach you want outside of class B/C. Here is the FAR re:low flying. http://rgl.faa.gov/regulatory_and_gu...1!OpenDocument

I know that I don't
Casting about for a reason. Not very often I see two aircraft,, following each other at 300 yards or so, flying at virtually treetop level...over an area with houses every 100 yards

National Guard in your area? They fly Apaches and Lakotas low level over my house every once and a while.

We have had F-16's flying low and fast over the neighborhood for the last week or so. Sometimes up until late, wifee has been commenting/complaint about it (she's like what the heck are they doing). They are coming out of Luke Air Force base, but it is untypical for sure.

Rare to see a Natl Guard aircraft here. No mention in the news.
I didn't hear any crashes, so all must be good.

Commits weekly crime
|
I had some helicopters going over my house about a week ago. I live on a quiet island near Whidbey Island Naval Air Station, so it isn't uncommon to get low fliers over where I am.
About 3 hours later, I hear some people talking outside my window on my front lawn. I look outside my window, and there are 4 cops on my lawn and another near a guy with legs spread, arms behind him. I go outside to see what happened, and it turns out that they had been looking for someone, and found them in my backyard or the woods behind my backyard.

The helicopter may have been the news. Didn't they catch a warden up there putting cameras in the restrooms.

News helo at 8:51 pm that low? I'm not joking about the height. Any lower and they'd have bird's nests in the skids.
I'm in Canton. My folks in Dedham (Greenlodge) heard the same aircraft last night. I'm surprised you didn't hear them.

I see quite a bit of unusual aircraft around here. I'm on a flight path to Logan . I have also seen very low flying military aircraft close enough you would think you could hit them with a rock.

Prolly not. This was in the dark, at low altitude, and fairly high speed.
if they was making people disappear, I doubt that's the recipe
