Pulled This Out of A Gas Pump Today

I work as a pump tech and was servicing a pump that wasn't reading credit cards. Opened it up to find this lovely little skimmer inside.

That bright red plug is suppose to be plugged into the top of the card reader. the black thing with the ribbon cable is the skimming device.

Makes me wonder who put it there....another pump tech, station employee, or other thieves. I wonder how long it would take to break into a pump to place it? Any way you look at it, it is scary to think that those could be in any pump anywhere as you would never see it.

The keys to access the pump are sold on Ebay. It's a standard key for all Gilbarco pumps.

So yeah it really could have been anyone.

Use your card inside the station at the register, problem solved.

Things like this and identity theft should be minimum 10 years in prison. No parole, no probation, just hard time. ****ing degenerate wastes of oxygen & carbon.

Just imagine how many people swiped their cards through that.. If someone wants money they should make their own and not take it from people who have earned it..

I use a CC with a comparably low limit for daily use and just pay it up monthly for this reason.

I got my pin number stolen by that same scam, took 500 bucks out of my checking account. Thankfully Bank of America gave me my money back.

A little piece of advice, use your debit card as credit, instead of debit, so you don't use your pin number, all you do is your zip code.

Say someone steals my identity and I catch them using a credit card with my name on it linked to my SS#. If if kill that person would it be murder or suicide? It can't be murder because I would be killing myself and it wouldn't be suicide as I would still be alive.

LOL!!!!! If you really think that, you are just as easy to get scammed as the millions of others that have had their CC's swiped from Wendy's, McD's, Burger King, Target, BestBuy, Sears, and the list goes on... the lone employee who has a pocket skimmer is just as easy if not easier to swipe your card data as the skimmer in the pump.

Cash is King!!!!
