FTI/RX 3200 Billet Torque Converter = 4/10th ET gain in 1/4
I've been building my L99 one mod at a time. Gained 0.43 with the new FTI 3200 Billet Torque Converter. Special thanks to SC2150 (Tracy at Team RX) for hooking me up.
New bolt-on best with the new TC = 1/4: 12.413 @ 110.18, 1/8: 7.965 @ 87.52, 1.713 60' Previous bolt-on best = 12.843 @ 109.38, sixty-1.956 First race of the day was a 12.5 @ 109 with a 1.7 60-foot. I did some minor tweeking of the tune to reach my best. The converter is definitely for drag racing. It is good for daily driving. I recommend a quieter exhaust like my Borla Touring on an L99, because you're going to spend much more time in the 3000-4000 range. However, your gas mileage will drop around town. On the highway, I was running 24mpg, down from my regular 26mpg. Mods thus far are: Fastlane Pipeline CAI, Borla Touring Cat-back, High-flow JBA midpipes, FTI 3200 Torque Converter. As they say, a good torque converter on an automatic is the best first mod. I'm very pleased with my 1.7 sixty foot, and 1.6's are just around the corner. The 4/10th gain is great for a bolt-on car. With a little more horsepower, it'll improve. Comments welcome. My build log (link in sig) has more details. Padre Video: Timeslip:

Awesome!!!
The 2 MPG is about the avg we see with the swap. We drag race across the Eastern US with these and have found nothing quicker period for the LS based cars & trans. |

We are still running the $699 special, and NO core needed as these are billet units, not redone stock units. PM me for details. Not many mods for under $1000 give you 4-5tenths improvement in 1/4 mile ET.

You're doing 2nd gear roll racing? The higher the speeds, the less advantage a higher stall converter gives you. Its off the line and down in 1st gear where the converter really delivers the torque. You might want to go with gears if you're into roll races. How fast do you go? Is it a top end (high speed) race? |

RX/FTI can build you one that will give you the edge....contact SC2150 for details.
They took my 2000 SS and took it from 8.50's in the 1/8th mile to 7.90's |

Wow, nice build and nice improvement with just the stall.
Keep us posted, I'm liking your build!

Is it normal to have a 2/8" inch gap between the converter and flex plate after tightened engine bolts? I got all 3 clicks when i seated it and after tighten the converter to flex plate it didnt "seem to be" unseated... Should I have used washers to keep the gap between stall and flex plate at a specific spacing?

Needs some gap for proper operation. Sounds about right.
