Just a FYI on radar detectors
There's a new king. It's the Uniden R3 and the R1 as well but the R3 has gps. The Escort Redline held the title for years when it came to distance. There's also Radenso. These newcomers have superior BSM filtering to Escort detectors too. I figure there's probably people like me who have been buying the top of the line Escort detectors for years and are unaware there's strong competition out there and for less money too. Both companies detectors top of the line detectors are fairly recent into the radar detector market. The only quality unbiased knowledge for radar detectors on the internet is rdforum.org. These are just enthusiasts and they own all radar guns and lidar guns and test everything themselves.

Nice, hadn't seen that one. Still running a 10 year old Bel radar detector that's served me well. My only issue is the false alarm from all of the onboard radar on the newer vehicles, especially GM. From what I understand, there's no filtering available for that.

The new Unidens are well regarded but they just came out and so there are still some glitches to work out. The Escort Max 360 is probably more of a set and forget model at this point but man they are expensive. Still may look at the R3 after it gets a few firmware updates.

jc615: I have no interest in Uniden or any other company for that matter. I'm retired anyway. I only posted it because I was in this area before and the advice being given about radar detectors wasn't the best. I own an Escort Max II and will be keeping it for some time. There are also a couple of other manufacturers that I would recommend such as Radenso and if you're low on money even the very top of the line Cobra is usable. Btw I'd never own a Cobra. The Uniden R series radar detectors have beaten the detector with the best range(redline) for about 8 years now so it is pretty exciting. I'm sure some people will find the information useful. Btw the only reason I wouldn't recommend Escort detectors is not because of their ability but because for the competition has one upped them for less money.
Alrock: All of the newer detectors have BSM filtering. It's far from perfect but works pretty well. Also getting gps on the radar detector shuts it up quite a bit too. They are far more quiet than an old Bel. |
