ZL1 fuel pump (tank) tuning changes?

Hey guys, I’m getting ready to put the car up in the air to do BMR cradle lockout and figured while it’s there I might as well drop the tank and throw in a ZL1 pump.

Do I have to make changes in the ecm/fscm? I just looked at the max pressure and believe it or not the settings are the same as a ZL1. 500kPa @ high flow. 2019 FSCM (2SS). I think in earlier years it was different based on threads here.

However the voltages are not, they are the std max 14.7V. I don’t know how to tune the car so I don’t want to make any changes that would effect the current “tune”.

Plan on upgrades in the next few months and it will be retuned then, but thought while it was up I could do this.

Should I leave the voltage alone, change it to the ZL1 table (max 15.5V I think) or?

I’m not afraid to make these changes, just don’t want to mess up anything else if you know what I mean.

Hell does the 19SS have the ZL1 low side like the 1LE? Hate to drop the tank and find that out.

It is possible you already have the ZL1 Pump. Most SS cars that we put ZL1 pumps in, we have to raise the max pressure settings. Some SS optioned cars get the ZL1 pump, i think this comes with any package that comes with the e-diff options.

I would take your vin, have a dealership look up the fuel pump part number that came with your car, and check to see if it is a ZL1 spec pump or not

You might be on to something here. I checked a 2019 SS file that someone posted, and ECM 6975 was indeed like a ZL1, max flow rate 444 and 500kpa pressure up there. Same as a 2017 SS/1LE is. Whereas my 2017 base SS stock tune was max flow rate 381 and fuel pressure dropping to 328 kpa up top.

That’s what the FSCM shows, just called the dealer and according to VIN I’ve got a 84873927 which is a std LT1 pump. Bummer lol.

So I guess the next question is back to my original. Drop the ZL1 pump in and go given max pressure is already 500kPa or do I need to bump voltage up?

Look at ECM 6970

I think you can tell by how the pump sounds when u open the driver door and the pump turns on to prime.

If u can find a 1le or a zl1 car you should be able to hear the difference.

The Z pump is louder and a lower pitch waaaaaaaaa
The SS pump is a higher pitch weeeeeeeee
