Just did mine this way. I failed the first time. The led still lit up dimly. Then I put a drip of solder on each connection and good to go! I think they came loose when I put them in without the solder but now I have some piece of mind.

I have a bunch left. I'll send the package of about 70 to someone if they want to pass them on when they get what they need off them

Finally got my bulbs in mail yesterday, going to have these done in a few days. I don't trust myself with solder, so I'll try like you did with just needle nose.

You can remove the bulb, maybe you can use a needle nose plyer to turn the bulb housing and take it out, they are in there tight. Lethal has a video here you can look over for reference just in case -

Sweet... actually found the "trick" in his other video... using a screwdriver as leverage using the actual plate that sticks out.. thx man.

Now I'm gonna head back out to do the other side & test for "after glow"

Update:

There are a few individual LEDs that stay on very dim on each bulb. Only can notice it at night, but I think it's as best as I can get it... I used one resistor on each side.

Here is a pic:

Looks like all is fine after putting the sockets back in & putting covers back on.

This is what mine did as well. Something isn't making a good contact. I took mine back off and soldered just a bit to ensure they would get solid contact and all is well now. Mine must have slipped off when I put them back in with the pigtails. I'd imagine your running into same issue

they were the wrong bulbs.... i went with what the OP used and soldered the resisters to the new bulbs.....Works perfectly.
